NBA Playoffs: Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks Game 6 Preview, Odds, Prediction

May 12, 2022 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The Milwaukee Bucks are back behind the wheel following a win over the Boston Celtics in Game 5. They now have a chance to end the series, and what goes in their favor is the fact that they have the home-court advantage. Fiserv Forum is a nasty place to be for any team in the league, especially in the situation when the Bucks have a chance to clinch the series. The momentum is also on Milwaukee’s end. The reason – a fantastic comeback in Game 5, which saw the Bucks covering a 14-point deficit in the final period.

Preview

Boston Celtics (+105) were shocked after Game 5. Both the players and the fans couldn’t believe what hit them. The Cs were holding everything in their hands, but an unexpected collapse in the final few minutes of the event cost them the victory.

Boston didn’t shoot nor hit a single three in the final period, which is something unthinkable for one NBA team, during the regular part of the season, let alone the playoffs.

Tatum was the hosts’ leading scorer, with 34 points and six boards, but hitting only two of his 11 three-point attempts. Jaylen Brown had 26 points with eight boards and six assists, while Marcus Smart scored 15 buckets. And that was it from the Cs players. Al Horford was stopped this time, having only eight buckets.

Milwaukee Bucks (-125) have made one of the best playoff comebacks ever, and they did it in the best possible moment. And the guy who needs to be credited the most is Jrue Holiday. The veteran guard’s defense in the last few moments of the event was superb, while on the other end, he was clinical when needing to score.

Holiday had 24 points and eight boards and assists each in 41 minutes. Throughout that time, he had only two turnovers, while for example, Giannis posted seven.

The Greek Freak did drop 40 buckets with 11 boards, 16-for-27 from the floor, and he harassed the Celtics’ defense. Still, we can’t get rid of the impression that he didn’t have as significant an impact on the game as Holiday. Bobby Portis came off the bench to have a superb contribution – 14 points and 15 boards.

Head to Head Games

This was the second time in this series for the Bucks to snap a win on the road. Game 1 ended in their favor, 101-89. After that, the Celtics beat the champions in Game 2, 109-86, before losing the opening event at Fiserv, 103-101. That one was highly controversial due to several late calls. Boston managed to level the score in the series after claiming Game 4, 116-108, but lost Wednesday’s event at home, 110-107.

Prediction

Milwaukee isn’t going to allow themselves to miss a chance like this. The conference finals are at stake and a day or maybe even more of rest compared to the potential rivals in the same. The momentum behind Mike Budenholzer’s unit is massive, and we simply have to back up their victory in this case. The odds are solid as well, therefore, this is our pick.

Pick: Milwaukee Bucks win -125
