NBA Finals: Warriors Hit Back, Tie the Series at 2-All

June 11, 2022 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The Golden State Warriors stopped Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, tying the series at 2-all, with a 107-97 triumph. This means that the Warriors’ brought back the home-court advantage before heading back to the Bay Area, shifting the momentum of the series in the best possible moment.

Steph Curry was the main reason for GSW’s victory, as he once again had one of his epic shows. Steph dropped 43 points on the Cs’ defense, despite picking up a foot injury in Game 3. The two-time NBA MVP never left the impression that he had any health problems, pouring baskets from all over the place.

Steph spent 41 minutes on the floor, having 43 points and 10 boards, with four assists, shooting 14-for-26 from the field and 7-for-14 from downtown.

“I felt like we just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight,” Curry said. “Whether that’s their crowd, their team, our team, whoever wants to see that energy and that fire, we feed off of that.”

The Warriors beat the Celtics 28-19 in the final 12 minutes and that made the difference at the TD Garden tonight. Unlike the previous game in which the Cs had a strong finish, the scenario in this one was a bit different.

Golden State won the battle on the glass, which was one of the big factors in the Warriors’ victory. The guests had 55 boards, while on the other side, Boston recorded 42. One of the causes was Robert Williams III’s knee trouble. He had 12 boards, 10 in the first half, but was visibly limping after the break. The big fell was listed as questionable before the game, and in the end, he lost the grip despite a very good start.

Meanwhile, the Warriors had incredible Andrew Wiggins, who had 16 boards and 17 points, and Kevon Looney, with six points and 11 rebounds. Also, Draymond ended the night with nine rebounds, and he added eight assists. Klay was solid with 18 points, and Jordan Poole scored 14 off the bench.

Among the Celtic, Tatum had a team-high 23 points but was shooting 8-for 8-for-23. JT would add eight boards and six assists with three blocks, yet wasn’t present in the moments when needed the most. Jaylen Brown scored 21 points with six boards, and Marcus Smart contributed with 18, five boards, and four steals. Derrick White had 16 points off the bench.

With this loss, the Celtics are in the position of having to win on the road in order to reach the title. Though, being 8-3 on the road in these playoffs, things aren’t discouraging for them.

“We have to do it again. It could have been an easier road, obviously, if you get the win tonight. But we’re 2-2 now. We know we can do it. We’ve done it before,” said Cs’ head coach Ime Udoka.

Boston opened the series with a win in San Fransico, and they had already triumphed there during the regular part of the year; therefore, they know what to do to post a victory in the Warriors’ house. For sure, they won’t be disturbed by tonight’s loss, as they had plenty of back-and-forth series and situations during this postseason.

The series continues at the Chase Center on Monday night. The tip-off is set for 9 pm ET, with ABC broadcasting the game.
