MLS: Nashville SC vs. Sporting Kansas City FC Preview, Odds, Prediction

While on one side, Nashville SC is in the playoff zone, Sporting Kansas City is sitting dead last in the Western Conference. This pretty much sums up the intro for this event, which takes place on Sunday afternoon at the Geodis Park in Nashville. The hosts are without a loss in the last five events, while on the other side, SKC didn’t win on the road since October 2021. They were one of the best teams during the previous regular season and are now the biggest disappointment. Though there are explanations for this one, but more about that in the preview.

Nashville SC (-166) has five games without a loss across all the competitions and only one defeat in the previous nine. Four of those last five contests have been with both teams scoring, and all of them were with three or more hits.

The Coyotes have been without a loss at home for more than 13 months, which boosts their confidence before this event. Though, we need to add that they played only five events this year, winning two and posting three draws.

What is a positive thing for these guys is that they have played the fewest number of home clashes in the entire league, and they will have an easier schedule as time goes by.

Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City (+450) was one of the best MLS teams in 2022, but they had lots of bad luck in the recent few months. Both of their designated players are out (Pulido and Kinda), making it very difficult for Peter Vermes to guide his team throughout the competition.

So it is really no wonder to see these guys winning once in the past eight MLS events. Though, the good thing is that they at least scored in all but three of those events.

On the other hand, the defense has been terrible, and we still remember the epic humiliation against Portland Timbers from mid-May when SKC lost 7-2. They are terrible on the road without a single win in eight games and only two points throughout those events. They and Vancouver Whitecaps have allowed the most goals away from home, 20 each.

The previous meeting between these teams was in April this year, and Nashville went home from Kansas City with three points in its pocket. The result of that one was 1-2 for the Coyotes.

Prediction

Nashville is in a better position here, and the best way of explaining that would be to check out their performances at home and SKC’s on the road. We really think that any other outcome but the home team’s win would be a big surprise, and that’s why the odds, which currently sit at -166 have an extremely good value.
