MLS: Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution Preview, Odds, Prediction

Toronto FC started playing well recently, and they want to keep it that way against the New England Revolution in their encounter set for this Wednesday. The Canadian powerhouse received a major boost with two Italian superstars who came to town recently, Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi. Meanwhile, Bruce Arena and his guys bounced back after a few mild performances and are now looking quite well, unlike a few weeks ago. Both of these teams want to reach the playoffs, and are direct rivals for the place in the same.

Toronto FC (-105) didn’t lose the last four games in the MLS. They have suffered a defeat in the Canadian championship finals to Vancouver Whitecaps, yet that didn’t disturb Bob Bradley’s assembly too much. The positive streak in the MLS began at home when they beat Charlotte 4-0, then they played 0-0 against the Revs, before posting back-to-back victories, in Nashville, 3-4 and at home to Portland Timbers, 3-1.

As you can see, the better part of the team is the offense, and that is sole because Insigne and Bernardeschi started playing. The two have a much higher quality than the rest of the league, which is why they created such a difference immediately.

Four of the past five games Toronto played at home were with three or more goals, and three of them were with four hits, or both teams netting.

New England Revolution (+250) had a nasty period during which they failed to win in six straight games. After that, they would post two triumphs in a row, one in Orlando, 0-3, and then at home, 1-0, against DC United.

Bruce Arena finally had a reason to smile, as his defense reached the desired level, with the Revs protecting their net in the last four consecutive events or 360 minutes.

Though, he has reason to worry as well. The Revolution isn’t displaying good performances on the road, and before the win over Orlando, they couldn’t triumph on four consecutive road trips.

Noble Okello is injured for Toronto, the same as Quentin Westberg. Meanwhile, Mark Kay is questionable due to his injury.

On the other side, Jacob Jackson has injury issues and is the only one out for the Revolution. However, Dylan Borrero, Gustavo Bou, and Lucas Maciel are all under a question mark and will be a game-time decision.

The Revolution hosted Toronto FC three weeks ago, with that game ending without goals, 0-0. Prior to that, the most recent two events were in 2021, and each team got one win, interestingly on the road. The Revs were better in Toronto, 1-2, and on the other end, the Canadians triumphed in Foxborough, 2-3.

Prediction

The hosts are looking good, and we would go with their win here. New England’s best part of the lineup is the defense, but on the other side, we have Toronto firing on all cylinders with Insigne and Bernardeschi. We think that they have enough quality to break the Revs’ back line and keep all three points at the BMO Field.
