NBA: Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns Preview, Odds, Prediction

October 24, 2022 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The Golden State Warriors are traveling to Phoenix on Tuesday night to meet with the Suns, one of their biggest rivals for the top spot in the West, and one of the contenders for the Larry O’Brien trophy. For the moment, both units have two wins and one loss after three events, looking solid, but not yet in perfect form. Nevertheless, the hype surrounding this event is massive, and the fans can’t wait for it to start. That’s why we are here to deliver a proper preview along with a prediction.

Preview

Golden State Warriors (2-1, +115) recovered from a defeat at home against the Denver Nuggets with a win over the sorry Kings. Yes, we already know that the Kings will be sorry this season, and we aren’t afraid to share that with you now.

The final result of this event was 130-125, with the Warriors delivering 89 points in the opening half. They would slow down in the last quarter, losing that sequence 31-17, but Steve Kerr didn’t lose his calm even though the Kings threatened on several occasions. He didn’t want to change anything allowing his players to solve the matter on their own.

Steph Curry had 33 buckets, hitting seven threes, while Andrew Wiggins added 24 points, the same as Jordan Poole who entered off the bench, giving the rhythm to the GSW’s offense in the moments when other superstars had to rest.

Phoenix Suns (2-1, -140) suffered a tight loss in Portland, following an OT, but after that, they would routinely dispatch the LA Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena, 112-95. It was one-sided domination during which the Suns showed all of their talents, sending a strong message to the Clips and other title contenders.

Monty Williams’ unit dropped 33 points and allowed 18 in the first quarter, and the result at halftime was 61-41, and that’s all you need to know about the difference in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Devin Booker had 35 points, 13-for-21 from the field, and he stuffed the Clippers’ basket from any given position on the court. He was absolutely unstoppable. Chris Paul was all over the floor, with seven points, but 11 assists and eight rebounds, while Ayton added 13 points and eight boards, doing his part of the job well.

Head to Head Games

These teams played four times last year, and both teams had two wins each. At first, the Suns won at home, 104-96, then the Warriors won back-to-back games, at home 118-96, and on the road, 116-107, before the Suns triumphed at the Chase Center, 107-103.

Prediction

With how things stand now, we think that betting on the Suns is the best idea here. Why? They seem in good shape and have been tested on the road against excellent teams. Meanwhile, the Warriors lost at home to the Nuggets, and showed some signs of a championship hangover. Yes, they did beat the Lakers and the Kings, but these two teams won’t be in the playoffs. So all this and the fact that the Suns play at home are the reasons for betting on them.

Pick: Suns win
