Premier League: Liverpool vs. Arsenal Preview, Head to Head, Prediction, Picks

April 5, 2023 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Liverpool and Arsenal close the 30th round of the English Premier League on April 9. The Reds are hosting the leaders at Anfield, hoping to end the terrible streak that could eventually eliminate them from the UEFA Champions League hunt. Arsenal aims to stay on the championship course, and to do that, the Gunners would need three points here. Manchester City might be far behind, but knowing their power, that deficit could melt quickly.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal Preview

Liverpool (+175) didn’t win in the past four events, losing three in a row, before posting a goalless draw last Tuesday at Stamford Bridge. Jurgen Klopp seemed frustrated following all these failures, and as mentioned in the previous preview, he doesn’t have the solution to problems for the first time since arriving at Anfield.

The Reds are inconsistent in all the lines, and most recently, we’ve seen them underachieving offensively. In the above-mentioned four events, Liverpool didn’t score in three. And knowing that you have Salah, Jota, and Nunez, this is a catastrophe.

As for the defense, apart from the game against Man City, who packed four goals in Alisson’s net in other events, they allowed one goal each vs. Bournemouth and Real Madrid.

Arsenal (+145) had more time to rest than its rivals because Mikel Arteta’s unit had no games throughout midweek. This came in handy for the Gunners, who had a tough schedule recently and needed a break. We must remind that Arsenal had plenty of players called up for their national teams during the international break.

The form of the team is going up. They defeated Leeds last weekend, 4-1, which was the second event in a row in which this team netted four times. Previously, Arsenal trashed Crystal Palace at the Emirates with the same result.

The Gunners are the best team in the Premier League on the road. In 14 matches played, we’ve seen them triumphing 11 times, losing twice and posting one draw. The goal difference is 28 scored and nine conceded goals, both league-best.

Latest News

The big problem for Klopp is Van Dijk’s condition, and he will be a game-time decision due to his fever. Keita should be in the protocol, the same as Alcantara and Luis Diaz. As for Bajcetic and Ramsay, they two are out.

Saliba is questionable, the same as Nketiah and Elneny. Meanwhile, Takehiro Tomiyasu is injured, and he certainly won’t play.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal Head to Head Games

Arsenal was better in the first meeting of the year at the Emirates, 3-2. Previously, the Reds didn’t lose in five consecutive against the Gunners. They also netted at least twice in all but one of the previous six contests.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal Prediction

Liverpool comes home after four straight games on the road, and the Reds are eager to post a good result. They will be offensive and aggressive, which should force the guests to accept that style of play. Now, we don’t know who is going to win this contest, but what seems to be a safe pick are over 2.5 goals. Odds aren’t that high, but so isn’t the risk.

Liverpool vs. Arsenal Pick: Over 2.5 goals -125
