Vici Gaming vs Invictus Gaming Vitality – Dota 2 Professional League

December 6, 2018 By Shehryar Raza Leave a Comment

The Dota 2 Professional League Season 6 is amongst the most prestigious competitions of the Chinese region. The competition is currently is in the group stage. Let’s have a look at the groups. PSG.LGD and Team Aster are in group B, where Newbee, Invictus Gaming, Keen Gaming, and Taichi Gaming are also playing.

Group A includes Team Serenity, Vici Gaming, iG Vitality, EHOME, CDEC Gaming, and Keen Gaming.Luminous. League matches will be held from November 21 to December 30. Teams are playing in a round-robin system with matches in the best-of-2 format. Only the top three teams from each group will progress to the next round.

The reason we have picked this match for you is the fact that this match is between one of the giants of the competitive Dota 2, Vici Gaming against Invictus Gaming Vitality who haven’t really found their way to competitive Dota 2. Let’s have a look at their lineups.

Vici Gaming

Vici Gaming appeared on the competitive scene on October 21, 2012. It was assembled from young and little-known players. The team was led by an experienced player Mikasa, but in March 2013 he left the team. There were substitutions in the team, but on the qualifications for TI3. VG was defeated, after which all two players remained in the squad – fy and Fenrir. The composition of the VG replenished experienced and well-known players, and in December 2013 they were rated amongst the best team all over the world.

VG was the first to come from China to Europe for the Premium-class tournament, and they won a landslide victory there. It happened at RaidCall EMS One Fall Season. The whole season they stayed in the tops, and on the TI4 VG “with fire and sword” went through their rivals, eventually taking second place.

VG retained their aggressive style of the “non-Chinese team of the East” even after the tournament. In August 2014, the team surprised the whole world when they awarded the position of carry to German born Black ^. For the 2014-15 season, Vici became the champions of i-League, ESL One New York 2014, The Summit 2, Star Ladder Star Series Season 12 and took second place in the Dota 2 Asia Championships. In February 2015, Black ^ was forced to leave the team due to problems with communication.

In the season 2015-16, the team began to find its roots. At the Frankfurt Major 2015, VG took the 5-6th place, and at The Shanghai Major 2016, the team came dead last at the 13th-16th place. After a series of replacements, only BurNIng remained in the team. But even an experienced Sylar and a talented Cty did not bring the team victory. Another major reshuffle followed at the end of 2016, but it did not bring the team success, which made the organization almost completely change its composition in September 2017. But the team was a complete flop.

Vici Gaming has had to deal with a tough defeat at The International 8. Despite the fact that much investment was made in a top-level team, Lu “Fenrir” Chao and his teammates finished ninth-tenth. A very disappointing result.

To look to the future, the next The International 9 have decided to keep two of their players, Zhang “Paparazi” Chengjun as “carry” and Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang as “midlaner” and bring in two former players of VGJ. Thunder, Pan “Fade” yi and Zhoe “Yang” Haiyang who have played a good season together with Leong “ddc” Fatmeng.

But the one that takes the main focus of attention here is Ding “Dy” Cong which is incorporated as “support” five. “Dy” has not participated in big organizations or major events, but may surprise with some of his most played heroes. With his Earth Spirit, Monkey King, and Nyx Assassin, the side qualified for the Kuala Lumpur Major through the China regional qualifiers. In the competition, they finished at the 7th-8th place while in the ESL Hamburg the team made an incredible run and made it to the grand finale where they were defeated by Team Secret. Now the side has managed to qualify for the Chongqing Major.

Player to look out for

Paparazi

Playing the carry role for Vici Gaming, Paparazi began his career in the summer of 2015. He played for Immortal Magneto Gaming and Team FanTuan. From January 2016, he was a member of the Invictus Gaming team, but in March he was transferred to the second team – iG Vitality, with whom Zhang plays in Major tournaments and TI7, where he took 13th-16th place. After that, he signed a contract with Vici Gaming. He became the first Chinese player to reach 8,000 solo-MMR in the ladder of his region.

Invictus Gaming Vitality

The composition of iG Vitality was created in December 2015 and consisted of young Chinese players who were little known on the pro scene. In March 2016, most of them were transferred to the main body of the organization, and the roster was replenished with more famous players, but not distinguished by stability and titles.

Unfortunately, Invictus Gaming Vitality doesn’t stand a chance against the powerhouse, Vici Gaming. VItality has lost 9 of their last 12 pro games which also includes a loss against their upcoming opponents. The lineup of VItality doesn’t include a single player that has played on a higher level of competitive Dota 2. So their chances are becoming slimmer as we talk about the team. If we look at Vitality on a much bigger scale, then it is fair to say that it will be a miracle if they win a single point in the DPC. Meanwhile their upcoming opponents Vici have started the season well and will be looking to achieve the direct invite to TI9.

Vici Gaming 2-0 Invictus Gaming Vitality
