Nick Foles on Parkey’s Miss: “He Makes That 99 Out Of 100 Times”

January 7, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Nick Foles and his Eagles once again showed why they are that special in the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles were lucky last night in Chicago. But it seems that they always are when Foles is on the pitch.

What we saw in the last attack of the Bears was simply unbelievable. Cody Parkey’s miss will definitely stick on the internet for a long time.

“Obviously, we’re just hoping for a miss,” Foles said when asked about that field goal.

Philly quarterback added that Parkey’s miss is a rare thing to see, and that his team had a lot of luck.

“He makes that 99 out of a 100 times, and we’re just fortunate that that was one he missed.”

The irony of everything is bigger because the Bears’ pushed the Eagles into the playoffs with a win over the division rivals Minnesota Vikings in the last game of the regular part of the season.

But that is NFL football.

Foles was not very shiny in this encounter. He threw 266 yards, 25 of 40, for two touchdowns and two interceptions. But some big plays were after his passes, and we could say that once again he led Philly to another big win. Meanwhile, he credits the defense for the upset in Chicago.

“I think the big thing is that no one loses faith, no one stops believing, everyone just keeps talking, keeps believing in one another, and we just rallied. Our defense really kept us in this game.” Foles declared.

Against the Bears, Eagles’ quarterback had to diversify his targets, because Chicago’s defense is one of the best in the league. He was forced to rely upon the passing game, as the home team allowed only 42 rush yards.

Six different players had 20+ receiving yards, with Alshon Jeffrey picking up 82, and Zach Ertz 52.

Coming into this event, most of the people thought that the Bears are going to shut down Foles who didn’t encounter with such a tough defense in his last three games of the regular part, but it turned out that he wasn’t stunned by Khalil Mack and the boys as most of the experts predicted.

Their next game is going to be in New Orleans. The champions aren’t feeling very comfortable in Big Easy, as they already lost 48-7 this season. But a lot of time passed since then, and the Eagles are playing much better football since then.

Even head coach Pederson says something similar.

“I think we’re a different football team now than we were then.”

Foles didn’t express any concerns about the fact that his team got demolished in the previous event against Drew Brees and the guys. For him, it is going to be a great opportunity to play against one of the best teams in the league and one of the best QBs of all times, and a chance to get even. The challenge is huge, but he believes in his teammates.

“It’s gonna be a tall task this week. New Orleans had a bye week, they are tremendous team, they had an amazing season, but I love these guys that I get to go play with, I know we are ready for this.”

Foles didn’t play in the blowout in Week 11, and that might be a positive factor in this matchup. He doesn’t have any respect towards the Saints defense which harassed Wentz back then and allowed him to pas only 156 yards, forcing him to throw three interceptions.

Also, the Saints might be aware of Foles abilities, but his playbook is totally different than Wentz’s, and it is constantly updating as the time goes by. And it seems that since he began playing Golden Tate, Agholor and Jeffrey are much dangerous than with Wentz, who was more oriented towards Zach Ertz.

Whatever comes out, we are sure that this game isn’t going to disappoint anyone.
