Afreeca Freecs vs Jin Air Green Wings – LCK Spring Season 2019

March 2, 2019 By Shehryar Raza Leave a Comment

With the new season coming into force, the major international leagues are gearing up for their comeback. Among them, the LCK, probably the most disputed league in the world, with heavyweight names and beginners trying to make their mark on the world.

The purpose of this match is to look at the terrible form of Afreeca Freecs. The team competed in the Worlds 2018 and right now, it seems like they might not even qualify for the Playoffs of 2019. They are up against a side, Jin Air Wings that have not won a single series.

Afreeca Freecs vs Jin Air Green Wings

(LCK 2019 Spring Season, Best of 3 match MAR 7, 2019, 12:00 PM CET)

Afreeca Freecs

The team that last year qualified for the first time in the world championship, which is still their biggest achievement. But the team is currently sitting at the third place from the bottom as the side has suffered 8 losses in the 2019 season. Before the start of the season Afreeca parted ways from Read ” Kuro ” Seo-haeng the mid laner, Ha ” KKramer ” Jong-hun the support, Lee ” Mowgli ” Jae -ha the jungler and Park ” TusiN ” Jong-ik the ADC of the side.

Kiin the man

On the other hand, the biggest win of the team at that time was to keep their prized jungler Spirit and the top laner, Kiin, who uncharacteristically show disappointing form during the world championship. But he is still the main asset of the team as Kiin is the only one showing decent performances at the moment. Lastly, they recruited Ucal to their ranks who was a prodigy in the 2018 season from the side of KT Rolster. So, things looked so exceptional on paper for the Afreeca before the start of the season.

Why Afreeca is failing?

The biggest question around the blue is the issue of adaptation to the Meta. The team was predicted to show better performances than the ones presented last year after the miserable 3-0 loss to the North Americans of Cloud9. In addition to the big change in the bot lane, they kept aiming ADC, who played more matches than KKramer in the regular season in 2018. However, he was not picked to travel to the world championship. Kiin had the opportunity in 2019 to show why the side has kept him in the team, but winning only three games and losing 11 at the midpoint of the season is a cry of help for the side.

Who can shine for Afreeca?

Afreeca Freecs also has a very strong player – one who always achieves decent performances. That player is Kiin, the top-laner for the side has the ability to carry games even if Afreeca Freecs has a huge disadvantage. Recently, Jayce’s performance in Kiin’s hands was special, in the match against SANDBOX Gaming. He is undoubtedly one of the best players in the context of the current Meta of League of Legends.

However, not many players have been able to maintain top performance for over a year. It is unfortunate for Afreeca Freecs because they have been ineffective even with such a prominent carry. The good news is that their testing strategies have finally got results. Because of this, there is a high chance that Afreeca will return to the second half of the season and restore the performance they showed last summer.

Jin Air Green Wings

Jin Air Green Wings is one of the oldest teams in the Korean scenario, which is still among the country’s top despite never having won titles. Jin Air Green Wings were relegated from the event. However, the side managed to triumph in Challengers Korea and return to the elite of the Korean LoL. However, looking at the recent performances of the season, it is fair to assume that they will be going down from the LCK. Since they are sitting dead last with a 0-11 record.

Another year – same results

The team will end its fight at the bottom of the table with KT. Throughout the years, Wings in LCK has not been a team that offers danger to others but is reputed to catch some matches against those at the top of the table. For the 2019 season, the team was dependent on their ADC Stitch, who played the Worlds 2019 representing G-Rex, but in the competition, he didn’t exhibit any major performances, he seems to have a below average level compared to the top of Korea. Will 2019 finally be the end of the team in the LCK? The answer is Yes! They have the worst team at the moment with the worst form.

Disaster for JIn Air

Jin Air is experiencing a disastrous year. Although they never climbed to the top of the rankings, Jin Air still succeeded in an LCK level performance and sat in the middle of the chart. However, this team has completely lost the Spring season; They have not won any series yet. Jin Air has only one game win where they won against Gen.G Esports.

In that single victory, Grace was awarded the MVP title. Despite the fact that he and Lindarang are the only two players who are playing their roles, Grace still has to show something more to lead his team out of this miserable situation.

Final verdict

The verdict of this game is simple, Afreeca might not be going to Worlds this year, but they are certainly not losing to Jin Air Green Wings. This might just be the game where Afreeca Freecs makes its comeback of the season. All the team need is to figure out the meta, which they could do very well against Jin Air. Afreeca is certainly in the hot seat, but it will be quite unfortunate to see this highly talented team fighting for survival with Jin Air. We believe the side has the quality to make a hard comeback at the end of the Spring Season.
