ESL One Mumbai 2019 All Teams Preview And Potential Winner Pickup

ESL is hosting its second event of the year with the ESL One Mumbai. Despite being outside the regulations of The Dota2 Pro Circuit, it is all set to feature an attractive prize pool of $ 300,000. But due to so many competitions taking place in the competitive circuit of Dota 2, the organizers had to make some unwanted changes. The ESL is all set to take place in less than 24 hours. We give you all the comprehensive details that you should know regarding the format and the participants.

Format

Initially, it was announced that twelve top tier teams will compete for supremacy in Mumbai. Out of these twelve participants, seven teams were invited while others had to make their way through the qualifiers. Apart from the usual regions, which include CIS, SEA, and NA, India had its own qualifiers. Unfortunately, due to the busy schedules, some teams had to drop their spots and now only eight sides are competing.

Now the eight teams have been divided into two groups. The matches will be played in a GSL format, at the end of this phase, the top two teams of each group will make their way to the Upper Bracket. While the remaining teams will be placed in the lower bracket. This means that no participant will be eliminated in the group phase.

From 19th to 21st April the playoffs will take place at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai. All matches of this phase will be played in the best of three format. While the grand finale will be played in the best of five format. Let’s have a comprehensive look at the teams that are competing in Mumbai.

Teams

Keen Gaming

We have every right to believe that the strongest contender for the ESL Mumbai title is Keen Gaming. In the 2018-2019 season, the side exhibited impressive results, which gives them a decent edge over other teams. To date, the Chinese side has picked up 990 DPC points and sit at eighth rank in the rankings. The acquired 90 points in the Bucharest Minor where Keen finished at eighth rank. The other 900 points were picked from the DreamLeague Major in Stockholm, where despite the odds they ranked at 6th place.

TNC Predator

After Keen, the other possible contender for the title is TNC Predator. The team is ambitious to secure a spot at The International 9 as they sit at tenth place in the DPC ranking. Arriving at the climax of the 2018-2019 season, TNC finished at 5th place in the Kuala Lumpur Major. While the SEA team got the 12th place at the Chongqing Major. They had their fair share of troubles in the circuit with their player Kuku. Yet the side is still one of the top-ranked teams in the world.

Complexity Gaming

NA region is not very popular is producing strong teams. Don’t get us wrong, J.Strom and EG are incredible but after them, there’s nothing special. Throughout the season, Complexity Gaming qualified for just one DPC competition, the DreamLeague Minor. They performed well in the qualifiers, but in the competition, they only managed to finish at 4th place. Currently, the team hold 40 points and rank at 32nd spot. They will surely need a miracle to qualify for TI. But before that, they will have to prove themselves in Mumbai, which we believe will not end well for the NA side.

Mineski

Fnatic and TNC Predator are considered as the strongest teams of the Southeast Asian region. We think that Mineski can beat these two on any day, but only if they play their cards right. The team did struggle in the early days of the DPC. Since the team earned its first DPC points a few weeks ago with a 9th place finish at DreamLeague Major.

You might think we are optimistic but this is not the case. Since they made a couple of changes to the roster which proved beneficial for them. They parted ways with “Febby” and “pieliedie” and recruited “Bimbo” and “ninjaboogie” who previously played for Mineski. In our opinion, they are dark horses in the competition.

The Pango

We believe that Pango is the TNC of the CIS region. Since the team came into the competitive circuit a few months ago and won the qualifiers of the Chongqing Major by beating Virtus.Pro. In the main event, they did show disappointing results. They occupy 28th spot in the ranking with 48 points.

The team is yet to convince the world that they are a solid team. They had a fair share of roster troubles. The new lineup is competing for the first time in Mumbai, let’s see what they have to offer.

Natus Vincere

So far, Na’Vi is the least impressive tier 1 side of the DPC. The team made interesting changes to the roster by parting way with the veteran Dendi. Since then the team is yet to find a roster that works well. They sit at 16th spot in the DPC with just 175 points. We really hope that the former TI champions bounce back in Mumbai.

Team Team

When five teams dropped out of the competition, the organizers invited Team Team to Mumbai. The side has displayed decent results after the arrival of the controversial Canadian, EternalEnvy. They might very well win the title or might be amongst the first few teams to be eliminated. Therefore, it will be quite exciting to see the performance of the side in Mumbai.

Signify

The team that qualified through the Indian qualifiers is Signify. We believe that Signify could be the first team to get eliminated from the competition.
