Transfer Window Closed for Premier League Clubs, Arsenal Does An Excellent Job in the Finish

August 8, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The transfer window in England had ended. At first glance, it seems that Arsenal profited the most in the final days of the market madness. The Gunners snatched several solid players and filled in all the gaps they planned before the start of the season.

During the last day of the market, Arsenal signed David Luiz from Chelsea, for just £8 million pounds. The Brazilian center-back was not in Frank Lampard’s plans, but he should fit in at the Emirates perfectly. Unai Emery has been searching for so long to find a decent defender who will lead his back line.

Arsenal was in trouble after Laurent Koscielny decided to leave England and go back to France. He left a huge gap in the middle of the defense, and that could have been covered with some of the youngsters. However, they would need some time to develop, and that is not in Emery’s plans. With Luiz, there is no waiting, and the team from North London can relax now.

There was another addition to the defensive line for Emery. Celtic’s left-back Kieran Tierney became the new Gunner, and his signature is one of the best deals of the whole summer. Tierney was one of the hottest goods on the market, but he decided to continue his career at the Emirates.

Arsenal lost one player today too. Alex Iwobi signed with Everton for £35 million, which is a great deal for the Gunners, who didn’t count on the Nigerian in that measure. Yes, he was a standard first-team player, but easily replaceable.

While mentioning the Toffees, we need to say that their work during this summer turned out to be very good. They landed Moise Kean from Juve recently, and he should be a massive boost for Everton’s attack.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has done a great job. They finally got rid of Romelu Lukaku who joined Inter Milan for £74 million and got back a solid share of the money spent this summer. After buying Harry Maguire for more than £85 million, and adding Aaron Wan-Bissaka, we might say that United now has one of the best defenses in the Premier League.

What left some bad taste in Solskjaer’s mouth was the fact that he couldn’t persuade Paulo Dybala to become a Red Devil. The Argentinian’s demands were just too high for Manchester, and the English club decided to withdraw from any negotiations. Yet, he could have been a great boost for their attack.

Tottenham also concluded two big jobs this Thursday. The first one is the arrival of Giovani Lo Celso from Betis on loan for the upcoming season. It means that the Spurs might be willing to sell their superstar Christian Eriksen who is a target of Atletico Madrid for a long time.

The Danish international is Diego Simeone’s desire, and it seems that the player himself doesn’t have anything against the possibility to move to Spain.

The Spurs brought Ryan Sessegnon, one of the biggest talents in England, who has been probably the most wanted player before the start of the previous campaign. Back then, Fulham’s youngster amazed the whole country with his performance. He chose to stay at Craven Cottage, although he had offers from City, United, Chelsea, and other top English clubs.

Afterward, his development slowed a little bit and the focus of the big teams was shifted on to other guys. Tottenham decided to give a chance to the youngster who signed a 6-year deal with the Spurs.

The English Premier League kicks-off this Friday at the Anfield Road, where Liverpool meets with Norwich City.
