Baltimore Ravens Eager to Terminate the Hype About Cleveland Browns

September 25, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Baltimore Ravens’ safety Earl Thomas, revealed earlier today, that he and his teammates are a bit tired because of all the hype surrounding the Cleveland Browns. Thomas stated that all the talks about the Browns as the next big thing became boring.

The tension before the upcoming clash between the two divisional rivals was very high even before these comments. We can only guess what is going through the heads of Cleveland’s players now, especially after all the negative comments following their not so good start of the campaign.

“The media was talking about OBJ and that tandem and Baker Mayfield, the next savior,” said the 30-year old.

He added that Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh also paid too much of attention towards the Browns, probably believing that they could endanger Baltimore’s reign in the AFC North division.

“Coach [John Harbaugh] talked about it a couple of times in meetings. So guys kind of got tired about it. He was just talking about what it looked like on paper,” Thomas said.

It is no secret that Harbaugh sees Cleveland as one of the most talented teams in the NFL, and he mentioned that several times. Though, he did stress out that his comments were made during the offseason, and that the situation is a bit different now.

“To me, that was an offseason question. I think at the time, they did have the most talent in the division,” “Now we are playing the season, and all of that stuff gets determined during the season.”

The Ravens lost last week in Kansas City against the Chiefs 28-33, after a spectacular match. Their comeback in the late part of the event was huge, and according to some of the experts, if the game lasted for about five minutes more, Baltimore would have reached the hosts. A defeat at the Arrowhead stadium is the only one since the start of the campaign.

They opened a season with a 59-10 win against the Miami Dolphins in Florida, and successfully overcame the Arizona Cardinals and the no.1 pick from this draft Kyler Murray at home 23-17. Lamar Jackson set numerous records, posting fantastic performances, and indicating that he is already one of the best QBs in the league. Despite the loss against the Chiefs, after a long time, we’ve seen the Ravens looking like true contenders for the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Jackson and his boys are now having three big divisional derbies ahead of them. One against the Browns, and the other against the Steelers in Pittsburgh the week after. All this is followed by a home event versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

But first, the Ravens are eager to show the world that the Browns are overrated and that they aren’t capable of endangering their supremacy in the division. And of course, they want to be the one who will terminate the hype about Cleveland.

“That’s just what it is — it’s hype,” Ravens DT Brandon Williams told the reporters. “You can’t really buy into it. You don’t really know what a team is until you see them on Sunday. When somebody gets hit in the mouth, what’s the plan then?”

Meanwhile, the Browns are under heavy criticism coming from all sides. Many are saying that this team doesn’t deserve this amount of attention and that Mayfield isn’t the elite prospect, the one who might carry a team. The former No.1 pick responded to Rex Ryan’s harsh words pretty nasty. It appears that the focus of Cleveland’s players is far away from the football field and all the things on it, which is a bad thing for the chemistry and the results.

The game between the Ravens and the Browns is this Sunday at 1 PM local time in Baltimore.
