Wojnarowski: Pascal Siakam and Quin Snyder Sign Extensions With Raptors and Jazz

October 19, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Pascal Siakam and Quin Snyder have signed long-term extensions with their respective clubs earlier today. Siakam inked a maximum possible deal for him, while Snyder sealed his stay in Salt Lake City for many years to come.

After keeping Kyle Lowry, the Toronto Raptors decided to splash the cash for one more player form the last season’s championship roster. Pascal Siakam, the most improved player for the 2018/2019 campaign, signed a maximum rookie contract extension. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cameroonian will earn $130 million for those four years. That is what his agents Todd Ramasar and Jaafar Choufani revealed today following the deal’s closure.

This was something expected to take place today, as the deadline for 2016 NBA draft extensions expires this Monday.

Siakam’s numbers rose enormously over the last three years. When he came to the league as the 27th pick in 2016, he couldn’t find his way around very well. But as time went by he slowly started to improve, and with Nick Nurse becoming the head coach of the Raptors, Siakam exploded,

From 4.2 points in his rookie season, through 7.3 in sophomore, he reached 16.9 last year. However, that wasn’t all from this guy. During the finals, he averaged 19.8 buckets, 7.5 boards, and 3.7 dimes, and was the second most important player of the Raptors throughout the entire playoffs. Siakam was the second option of the Raptors in attack and was contributing on both sides of the floor. For the franchise from Canada, this is an excellent deal, as they get keep long-term, one of the most promising players in the entire league. Not only that, along with OG Anunoby, he could make a core of this franchise for the next decade.

Nurse will most definitely pick Siakam to be his key player in the upcoming seasons, and we should see even better stats from him in the forthcoming campaign.

Utah’s head coach Snyder will stay that way for the years to come. There haven’t been any precise pieces of information about this deal, but according to Woj, Snyder extended the contract, and on the existing two seasons added a few more. As in the above-mentioned case this is a massive plus for the franchise. Since Snyder came, the Jazzers became a force in the West, and are also having an enormous potential to make a huge noise this year. After several trades among them, the one which landed Mike Conley to Salt Lake City, this team should be taken seriously.

According to league sources, Quin Snyder’s ability to earn and keep the trust of the players is a big reason for the longterm commitment to him from the organization. Snyder has gotten the Jazz to the playoffs in three straight seasons

Utah is a regular playoff team in the playoffs over the previous three seasons. The 52-year old has made one of the most balanced rosters in the league. With Donovan Mitchel, who emerged as a superstar last season, the Jazzers are in a position to aim high goals for the first time since the Stockton-Malone era.

With back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert, and few more excellent players, coached by Snyder, Utah just might be a dark horse who destroys everything and upsets everyone. Many are claiming that everything the Jazzers are today is sole because of him and his work ethic. The team from Salt Lake City is 149-97 in the past three seasons, which is the sixth-best result in the NBA.

That is pretty much why the management decided to keep on believing in Snyder.
