Harrison Butker Saves the Day, Kansas City Chiefs Beat Minnesota Vikings, 26-23

November 3, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

As time expired at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Harrison Butker made a 44-yard field goal, which brought a massive win for his Chiefs. Those three points secured the hosts their sixth victory since the start of the campaign, keeping them safe at the top of the AFC West. The final result Kansas City 26, Minnesota 23

Butker played a vital role in today’s game, as he not only brought a win, but made three more field goals. Besides the one in the final moments, he had one other, which was equally important. With 2:36 left in the fourth, his Chiefs were in a difficult position. Their drive didn’t go as planned, and he had to intervene. The task was 54 yards long, but that proved to be a piece of cake for this guy.

His field goal tied the game at 23-all, giving a chance to his team to win this one. But first, the defensive unit had to stop Kirk Cousins, which they did, in the best possible way. Captain Kirk went three-and-out, so the Vikings had to punt the football. Britton Colquitt didn’t do that very well, making a kick just 27 yards long, and going outside. He didn’t want to give the reception to Tyreke Hill, who was waiting for it.

And when everyone believed that the home team is going to resolve the situation easily, Matt Moore, suffered a sack which pushed him back for 11 yards. On second-and-21, Moore then found Travis Kelce for 17-yards, tossing a pass that pretty much decided the event. Butker came on the field shortly after, using his chance to be the hero of the day.

The hosts opened the game well, with Tyreke Hill showcasing his lightning speed. KC’s wide receiver took the ball all the way to the end zone after a 41-yard burst. Hill would end the contest with 140 yards on 6 catches, and a TD.

Damien Williams recorded 125 yards on 12 carries, but he also provided the best play of the day. KC’s running back had a 91-yard run, which ended with a touchdown 6:13 until the end of the third.

Matt Moore had just one touchdown pass, along with 275 yards, 25 of 35. The backup QB fumbled the ball twice, but on both occasions, his teammates recovered the possession. He could easily go back to the bench the next week, as some sources claim that Patrick Mahomes’ recovery is much faster than anyone anticipated. Moore was sacked 5 times for 45 yards.

“You know what?” said Andy Ried on Mahomes’ situation. “He’s close.”

On the other side, Cousins had three touchdowns, 220 yards, 19 of 38. Although these numbers look decent, Captain Kirk wasn’t there to step up when needed the most. To be honest, he didn’t have the help of his primary targets, such as Thielen, Diggs.

“They did a good job,” said Cousins. “Their defensive coordinator, their players did a good job against us, taking some things away that we tried to do, and just we weren’t always there.”

The running back Dalvin Cook, had 126 yards from the scrimmage and was the sole bright spot among the guests.

Kyle Rudolph, Ameer Abdullah, and Bisi Johnson all caught one TD pass from the Vikings’ quarterback.

Up next, Minnesota travels to Dallas to meet the Cowboys, while on the other side, Kansas City clashes with Tennessee Titans on the road also.
