Golden State Warriors Become League-Worst, Lost Against Utah Jazz, 122-108

November 12, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Utah Jazz easily defeated the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center, notching its seventh win of the season. The Jazzers dropped 122 points on Dub Nation, allowing 108, routinely beating Steve Kerr’s guys, who were very nervous this Monday night.

Draymond Green got two techs and was ejected, while Steve Kerr also got one technical foul, as the Warriors suffered their 9th loss of the campaign. At the moment, the most dominant team over the recent few years sits last in the NBA.

“I disagreed with that call,” Green wanted to explain his view of the situation. “And I’m never going to be OK with another grown man telling me ‘don’t talk’. If you feel like you got the call wrong, or right, you don’t tell me not to talk. I’m a grown man. I got my own kids. So that’s what happened.”

It was the first tech and ejection in the new arena.

The Warriors were putting up a good resistance in the first period, staying close to the Jazzers who had just four points of advantage after that sequence, 34-30. But in the second period, Quin Snyder’s guys made seven three-pointers in 12 attempts, crushing the hosts’ defense and going away to 15 points, 69-54. Donovan Mitchell had five threes in those moments, missing just one downtown attempt.

After that is was a routine for them to keep that distance. The Jazzers had an excellent shooting performance in San Francisco with 49.4% from the field, and shooting threes 16 for 35. Plus, the visitors posted 30 assists.

There was one more thing that made Utah feeling comfortable in this clash. They had more players able to score points, thus diversifying the attack, unlike the hosts. Three guys had 20 or more points, Rudy Gobert 25, Mitchell 23, and Mike Conley 22.

Meanwhile, the Warriors had just D’Angelo Russell with 33 points and 8 dimes, but he couldn’t pull off a miracle alone. He opened the game with 18 buckets in the first, and while he had the power, his team was close.

There were no rookies who shined just a couple days ago against the Trail Blazers. Eric Paschall had 8 points, Ky Bowman 7, and Willie Cauley-Stein had 8 points too, with 11 rebounds.

Draymond Green was back after recovering from a torn finger ligament but didn’t have any significant impact on the course of the event. GSW’s All-Star had 4 points, 2-for-7, 4 assists and 7 rebounds.

“I don’t know what he said,” Steve Kerr revealed at the press. “It was a tough call, I thought it was a charge, and it was called a block, but it was a tough call. But we need him, one tech is fine, can’t have two.”

There was no aggression, the Warriors didn’t attack the rim enough, which is why they go just 14 free-throw attempts in 48 minutes. Opposite to them, Utah had 32.

Gobert had 14 boards and 2 rejections besides points, but the shooting percentage was what made his performance impressive. The French international was 11 of 12 from the field, and he just couldn’t be stopped by the Warriors defense.

The Warriors (2-9) have two very tough games coming up. The first one is against the Lakers this Wednesday in LA, and the second vs. Boston at home.

Utah is back to Salt Lake City, where they have second of back-to-back nights against Kyrie Irving and the Nets. Following that, they meet the Grizzlies on Friday, before clashing with Minnesota Timberwolves twice in three days.
