UFC 249 Takes Place at Tachi Palace Casino Resort

April 8, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

UFC 249 will take place at Tachi Palace Casino Resort, near Lemoore, California. It is near Fresno at the tribal land, and it was first reported by Jeff Sherwood, and later confirmed by the New York Times.

To make it even better for all the MMA fans, this is allegedly the first of several events the UFC organization will hold at this resort.

Just to make it clear, although the event takes place in California, Tachi Fight Palace is on the land of the Tachi-Yokut tribe, which is a part of the Santa Rosa Indian Community. In short, this Indian reservation isn’t subjected to Californian authorities and the California State Athletic Commission. Therefore, CSAC won’t be supervising this event, but that won’t be a problem for Dana White and his organization.

UFC 249 is happening at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort near Fresno, Calif., on tribal land in an end run around state regulators and public health guidelines. The casino has been closed since March 20. @kevinmdraper: https://t.co/v5yVYWMc78

Tachi Fight Palace was already a venue of several other events, but the most known are World Extreme Cagefighting battles, back in the days when this organization began its rise. Eventually, WEC was defunct.

As a safety measure, there won’t be any fans, and the only ones who would have the permit to attend are the fighters, their teams, Commissioners, and UFC staff members.

We’ve mentioned in the upper part of the text white’s intention that this venue hosts at least several more spectacles. According to his words, the UFC is going to “pump out” event every week for the upcoming two months, which is superb news for the fans who are desperate for live-action. In some parts of the world, there weren’t any sports activities for more than a month, and until UFC 249 begins, that would be the situation in the USA as well.

White was more than determined to go on with his plan, which included organizing the UFC 249 on April 18. After canceling three events, he wouldn’t allow this one to experience the same destiny. At first, it was probably because UFC 249 featured the fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. That is one of the most anticipated clashes of all time. In the meantime, the champion had to drop out, but White didn’t want to withdraw.

It was the time when all sports stopped with their activities, and the UFC president probably saw an opportunity for his organization to profit from it, and to take the step which would make it globally recognized and acknowledged.

As you all know, Khabib is going to be replaced with Justin Gaethje in the headliner of the event. Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik will also deliver an excellent amusement to the fans, as well as the two ladies who already fought before, Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade.

About White’s indication about the events after this one, we see that Colby Covington accepts Tyron Woodley’s offers, and he addressed to the media today, saying that he wants to meet the former champ in the headliner of one of those upcoming events.

White’s stories about a private island where he might organize international fights are heating the imagination of the fans even more. It is safe to say that if UFC 249 goes well, we will, for sure, have something to watch every week, until this pandemic goes away.
