Kamaru Usman and Ali Abdelaziz Offer a Match to Conor McGregor

May 25, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Kamaru Usman and Conor McGregor could make the next big fight in the UFC. After today’s trash talk from Usman’s side, we can expect to hear a swift response from the Irishman.

Usman (16-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC), the welterweight champion, responded to all the speculations which involved his name and McGregor (22-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC), by posting an image of him and the Notorious in the ring, with an interesting comment.

“I really don’t understand why you all want this man DEAD!!!” Usman wrote. “I’d shag him in there if I wanted and he’d ‘DO NOTHIN’ .”

Those are pretty strong words, and Usman didn’t say them for nothing. Previously, his agent Ali Abdelaziz, who is also representing Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov, started calling out McGregor.

This isn’t the first time that Abdelaziz takes a shot at McGregor, and it seems that the wants to provoke some sort of reaction from the other side.

Abdelaziz declared that Jorge Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) doesn’t want to fight Usman right now, although he is the No.1 challenger in the welterweight category. Instead, Gamebred wants another match against Nate Diaz (20-12 MMA, 18-11 UFC), whom he defeated recently in the BMF title belt.

After sharing the news that Masvidal aims to book a rematch against Diaz, Abdelaziz offered his spot to McGregor, saying that the champ would inflict much pain on the former title-holder.

“It looks like #1 contender wants to fight Nate Diaz now . Good for him @TheNotoriousMMA hey you want a title shot? Come to daddy @USMAN84kg will give you one, and he promise first 2 rounds without takedowns only slaps,” the agent wrote.

Usman and McGregor were in the same story several times before, but that wasn’t anything serious until now. This call to the Irish fighter seems pretty valid, and we are yet to see the response.

At the moment, both fighters don’t have any matches ahead of them, meaning that the UFC might make a move and book one of the most interesting fights ever. Usman’s last contest was against Colby Covington at the UFC 245 back in December last year. On the other side, Conor came back from retirement at the UFC 246, slamming Donald Cowboy Cerrone in just 40 seconds.

The money involved in this event would be huge. The ball is in Dana White’s backyard if Conor responds positively.

During the COVID-19 pandemics and all the fuzz regarding the UFC and their events, Usman received several offers for stepping into the ring. Among them were calls from Masvidal, Covington, who is trying to get a rematch ever since he lost, and Tyron Woodley, who is also demanding a second bout, etc.

Meanwhile, Conor was aiming at Khabib, but without success. Right now, there isn’t a theoretical chance for him to reach the Russian.

Gaethje is the mandatory challenger, and he won’t step aside in a million years.

McGregor was calling out Gaethje following his win over El Cucuy, but the new lightweight interim champ didn’t want to even talk about that. Instead, he just reminded the former champion of the situation following UFC 246, once he offered to fight the Notorious. Back then a negative answer came from the other side.

All that makes the match against Usman even more realistic.
