Juventus Slips in Milan, Rossoneri Win 4-2

July 7, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

AC Milan defeated Juventus with 4-2 tonight in the derby match of Serie A Week 31. The game at San Siro was spectacular, with the hosts catching up a 0-2 deficit.

This was a game of contrasts. In the first half, we didn’t see anything, while in the other, six goals plus plenty of excitement. Also, it was Juve who was in charge early on in the latter 45 minutes, but then we witnessed Milan’s tsunami which annihilated the reigning champions.

“I think our first 60 minutes were world-class. We were in total control and had this blackout. There’s not even much use thinking too much about it, because we have another game in three days,” Maurizio Sarri Juve’s coach stated following the event.

His team was good in the first half, not allowing Milan to endanger them, but on the other side, not being very productive upfront themselves. Still, the result was positive as Juve had one point in its pocket which could have been considered as a success in all the circumstances. When the second half started, the visitors quickly scored two goals.

The first was Adrien Rabiot, once the Frenchman took the ball at the midfield and ran towards a goal and hitting the back of the net with a nice shot from the edge of the box.

Christiano Ronaldo scored another goal five minutes after the opener in the 52nd minute. He used the mistake of Milan’s defenders and executed the chance to put his name on the scoresheet for the fifth time in a row.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic used a penalty awarded for Rossoneri in the 62nd minute, after Bonucci handballed in Juve’s box. For the Swed, this was a routine, and he dealt Szczesny. Four minutes later, he assisted Frank Kessie to level the result, and eventually, in the 67th minute, Leao completely turned the situation upside down.

Until the end, we saw Ante Rebic setting the finals score, ten minutes before the conclusion of the regular time. It was a superb way to finish a game that will be remembered for a long time.

“We have become a team, because we know each other now, we know our strengths and weaknesses. I am so happy here, proud and eager to end this season on a high. I don’t know what the future will bring, we’ll see when that moment comes,” said Milan’s coach Stefano Pioli.

It needs to be said that Milan didn’t lose since the comeback. They played against Juve in Coppa Italia and now, against Roma and Lazio, and they pretty much defeated all the rivals. Rossoneri’s bad results stopped once Zlatan landed at San Siro. There are some rumors regarding his future, and they constantly fill the headlines.

Ibra himself, didn’t want to speculate about anything, but he did add that right now he feels safe and well in.

“We’ll see, we’ll see. There is a month still to enjoy myself, but there is a strange situation going on and we are not in control of that,” he said.

Even though they lost, Juventus kept the distance between them and Lazio. The Sky-Blues also lost today, in Lecce against the same club with 2-1. What makes this loss even more problematic is that they had 0-1 early lead. Recently, Milan too defeated Lazio, only on the road, 0-3. Back then several of Lazio’s big-time players couldn’t play among them Immobile.
