Monday Night Football: Denver Broncos vs. Tennessee Titans Preview, Odds, Prediction

September 14, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The closing match of NFL Week 1 takes place in Denver, where the Broncos meet Tennessee Titans. It is going to be one very close game according to many, which might go either way. The Broncos are still not a formed team like the Titans, but they have solid potential. And a home-field advantage in this one. You have to count in the Mile High each time Denver plays at home. On the other side, Tennessee comes in this event apparently stronger than last season and wants to start another spectacular year. With a win of course.

Preview

Broncos  (+135) are underdogs, mostly because of their QB. Now even though Drew Lock had a solid stint at the finish of the previous campaign, he is still an enigma for most of the NFL community. Yes, Denver did win four games back them and won just one, but lock threw only seven TD passes and had three interceptions. So that is a bit quick to make a full conclusion on this young fella.

For Phillip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton, however, we don’t need any reassurances. These two guys have been empowering the Broncos’ offense during the entire previous year. Linsday had 1,011 yards and seven TD carries, while Sutton had 1,112 receiving yards for 6 TDs.

Broncos management landed Melvin Gordon, who is already a legend and a machine when it comes to executing in the red zone. On the other side, the first-round rookie WR Jerry Jeudy will give Sutton much-needed support.

When talking about defense, Denver already had a tough defensive team, pretty strong in tackles and on the ground. We need to mention one newcomer though, Jurrell Casey, who’s been traded this offseason from Tennessee to Denver, and in a not so pleasant way, may we add. The 30-year old defensive tackle now has a massive motive to revenge.

The Titans (-155) had to get rid of Casey’s contract in order to sign Jadeveon Clowney, who will hopefully, for them, terrorize the rivals’ defenses alongside Vic Beasley. The latter one came from Atlanta Falcons, to boost Tennessee’s pass rush alongside the former Jag and Seahawk.

We are definitely sure that you already know that Derrick henry presents one of the most dominant forces in the NFL and the leading guy in the Titans’ offense. In 2019 he had 303 snaps for 1,540 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. His role in the playoffs was way more important than during the preseason.

There was one guy who helped him a lot, and his name is Ryan Tannehill. With the highest passer rating in the league, and 22 TDs with sic picks last year, the former Dolphin became a long-term solution for this franchise.

Head to Head Matches

These two sides met last year in October, and the Broncos beat the Titans 16-0, inflicting them one pretty hard loss at the time. Tannehill and Mariota combined for three picks without a single TD and suffered seven sacks combined. Henry had 28 yards on 15 carries,

Overall the Broncos defense won the game because they too didn’t play well in the attack. Lindsay scored the only TD of the game.

Prediction

Over/Under limit for this match is 41 points, and for us, this is a clear under. We’ll see a lot of running, possibly a game similar to the last one when kickers appeared too often on the field.
