Green Bay not Messing Around, Crack New Orleans Saints, 37-30

Green Bay Packers defeated New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football, 37-30, concluding on every exciting day in the NFL. We saw a lot of interesting matchups, but this one was by far the most exciting.

Packers and Aaron Rodgers are determined to go at least one step further this year than they did in the previous. Shorthanded Saints were not an easy task, but still, LaFleur’s side was pretty confident against them.

“We’ve gotten in a good flow,” Rodgers said. “I feel so much more comfortable in the offense this year.”

Now AR stated this following a game in which he didn’t have his no.1 wide receiver, Davante Adams, who was unable to play because of the hamstring injury. In his absence, Packers’ fans saw the full ability of Allen Lazard, who had 146 yards in six passes, with one TD. The longest of his catches was 72 yards.

Apart from fantastic Lazard, Packs used Robert Tonyan for one TD and 50 yards in 5 receptions, and Mercedes Lewis, who had one 18-yard catch, which provided a score.

Rodgers threw for 283 yards, three TD passes, and wasn’t picked. Just to remind, he didn’t have his primary target.

On the other side, Drew Brees had almost identical stats as Rodgers, 288 yards, three TD passes but fumbled the football once. He didn’t have Michael Thomas ahead of him, which was a massive blow.

But, he had Alvin Kamara, who has been superb since the season started. Last night the 25-year old had 197 yards from the scrimmage, 139 through the air, and 58 on the ground, with two TDs, both via reception.

“It’s nice when you’ve got a weapon like that, that you just get the ball in his hands in space and he’s tough to tackle,” Brees said. “It’s like a human highlight reel.”

Emmanuel Sanders too stepped up to replace Thomas, and he had one TD, along with 56 yards in 4 receptions.

What made the difference in this one was Green Bay’s defense. They stopped the Saints in the moments when they started generating a massive momentum. Packs were fourth-and-1 in the middle of the field, and New Orleans defended. The result was 27-all at that moment.

The ball was back in Rodgers’ hands just two snaps later, as Taysom Hill made a fumble, with Za’Darius Smith recovering the same. The Packs scored from an FG, stopped the Saints once again later, and added one more TD to close the match.

“We’re not playing well enough. Let’s not fool ourselves. We’re making too many mistakes,” Saints coach Sean Payton said, probably referring to three fumbles his players made.

Up next, his team has a tough road match against the Lions, who finally won. Detroit was better than Arizona Cardinals away from home, 26-23. After that, Payton and the crew have two games at home. The first one is against the LA Chargers, followed by the one against the Carolina Panthers. Michael Thomas should be ready for the next contest.

Packers are red-hot now, delivering 122 points in the first two matches. However, they will have a tough schedule in the next three weeks. Their next opponents are the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. Green Bay then hits the road for two big challenges, the first one in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers. The second would be in Houston vs. Texans, who need to bounce back following a disastrous start.
