LA Lakers Win the NBA Title!

October 12, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The Los Angles Lakers are the new NBA champions! The purple and gold won Game 6 of this year’s finals against the Miami Heat, 106-93, capturing a title for the first time after 10 years.

“We have a Ph.D. in adversity, I can tell you that much,” their head coach Frank Vogel said. “We’ve been through a lot, but I’m so damn proud of this team. World champions!”

There was no adversity in this game, with the LAL having a 30-point lead during the contest. They came in strong, shifted into a higher gear when needed, and after that, rolled over the rivals. Miami didn’t have the lead not once during all 48 minutes, as they opened the match pretty badly with several straight misses, allowing the LAL to get a grip pretty quickly.

Vogel’s guys were up 8 points at the end of the first 12 minutes, but that was nothing compared to what was about to happen in the second period. LA would beat the Heat 36-16 in that sequence, getting away to 64-34 in the finish of the same. It was a routine for them to close this match, even letting the Heat cut the deficit in the end.

LeBron James sealed the series with a triple-double, scoring 28 points, with 14 rebounds and 10 assists, putting his stamp all over the series.

“This was very challenging and very difficult,” James said. “It played with your mind, and it played with your body. You’re away from some of the things you’re so accustomed to [that] make you the professional you are.”

Anthony Davis didn’t have as efficient nights as before, with 19 points, but his effort in all other aspects was very impactful, as Eyebrow posted 15 boards, two blocks, and an assist.

Rajon Rondo, the veteran who had very important role in the finals, also posted 19 buckets, shooting 8-for-11 from the field, with four boards and dimes each. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ended the night with 17, and Danny Green with 11 buckets.

There was no Jimmy Butler’s magic on the other side this time. The Heat forward didn’t start the match well, and he had a quiet game afterward, with 12 points, 8 assists, and seven boards. Still, his performances deserve to be highlighted, as he had a couple during this series, which will be remembered throughout time.

“We’re trending in the right direction. We’re going to learn from this, going to get better. We’re going to come back,” Butler said. “We’ll be back, that’s what we’re all saying in that locker room.”

Bam Adebayo had a double-double in tonight’s event, with 25 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists as well. Jae Crowder had 12 points, Duncan Robinson 10, while Tyler Hero had a subpar performance with just seven points in 30 minutes, shooting 3-for-10 overall.

LeBron James won the NBA Finals MVP for the fourth time, becoming the only player alongside MJ, with four titles and four finals MVPs. He averaged 29.8 points, 11.8 boards, and 8.5 assists with 53% shooting from the field, and 50% for three. His overall contribution throughout the entire playoffs was superb, and King James was really the heart and the sole of this unit.

LBJ would stress out that he still has the motive and power to play at the highest possible level and that he intends to attack more titles. With Anthony Davis onboard, the chances for that are pretty high. AD will become a free agent at the end of the season, but it seems that staying in LA is the best possible option for him.
