Tennessee Titans Confident Against the Buffalo Bills, 42-16

October 14, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

The Tennessee Titans kept on in the same rhythm after a week bye, coming back and trashing AFC East leaders, Buffalo Bills, 42-16.

Up to this point, the Bills were undefeated, but last night’s match against the Titans exposed many weaknesses of this unit. However, it needs to be said that the guests came shorthanded to Tennessee, missing two very important, LB Matt Milano and CB Tre’Davious White who were sidelined due to injuries.

“Doing things that you can’t do and expecting to win a football game — that’s what it boils down to … I’ll give credit where credit is do, they were ready to go. We beat ourselves probably more than anything, and that’s something you can’t do,” said coach Sean McDermott following the game.

The Bills had three turnovers, two interceptions, and a fumble. On the other hand, the Titans were superb when it comes to protecting the football and their quarterback. Ryan Tannehill was cautious and accurate, not giving up a single pick, and all that because of his offensive line. Titans didn’t allow any sacks on their QB. It turned out to be the difference in this one.

Tannehill ended the night with 195 passing yards and three TD tosses, one to AJ Brown and two to Jonnu Smith. He had one rushing TD himself. The experienced QB was fueled after all the negative comments he and his teammates faced during the last two weeks.

“We were a little ticked off about how we’ve been treated, how we’ve been talked about these last couple weeks,” RT stated.

That is probably how the entire Titans’ locker room set its mindset. Right from the start, the home team looked more motivated, stopping the Bills in the first attack and scoring on their own initial possession. Buffalo tried to match the intensity, but the guests lost the energy even before the halftime, having a 10-21 deficit.

Tennessee, however, continued to roll at the same pace, adding three more scores in the second half. Derrick Henry ran for 57 yards, adding two TDs, and one highlight-reel once he demolished Bills’ CB Josh Norman with a stiff-arm move.

“I’ve been doing a lot of curls,” said Henry after the game.

AJ Brown had 82 yards on 7 catches, Jonnu Smith had 40 on five, and Kalif Raymond added 26. Head coach Mike Vrabel was very happy with the way Brown played.

When you come at Derrick Henry, you better come correct 😱

“A.J. is a critical part of our team. He has continued to work and develop. We are going to need him and everybody. It’s going to be a tough game here next week.”

As for the Bills, Josh Allen threw 263 yards, for two TDs and interceptions each. By far, this was his weakest performance since the start of the campaign.

“We got punched in the mouth and didn’t respond like we should have … I didn’t play well enough for our team to win tonight.”

Stefon Diggs had 106 yards in 10 catches, and TJ Yeldon 52 on seven carries on the ground.

His Bills (4-1) have the biggest challenge coming up their way, as they play against Kansas City Chiefs at home next week. The following Sunday, the Bills meet New York Jets in New York.

Tennessee (4-0) has two more games at home in the next two weeks. The first one against the Houston Texans and after that with the Pittsburgh Steelers who are also undefeated so far.
