English Premier League: Manchester United vs. Arsenal Preview, Odds, Prediction

Manchester United and Arsenal highlight English Premier League Week 7, as these two great rivals clash in the most important game of the whole weekend. The Red Devils are in an excellent mood after the annihilation of RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League. On the other side, Arsenal is struggling to provide some consistency. They can’t get rid of the bad rhythm, and even though Arteta’s sides won two games in the Europa League, they lost two in the EPL.

Manchester United (+100) was glorious against RB Leipzig, beating the Germans with 5-0. Now, many would say that the late goals came mostly because of the guests’ initiative and desire to score. Yes, that is true, but on the other side, the Red Devils scored five goals to the last year’s Champions League semifinalists. Think of that for one second. 

This contest was the fourth in a row in which United hasn’t lost, and during that period, Solskjaer’s guys had three wins and a goalless draw against Chelsea. In all three triumphs, they scored two goals, at least, and all of them saw over 2.5 scores. 

In fact, since the campaign started, the game against Chelsea was the only one in which the fans didn’t see three or more goals. 

Arsenal (+265) started the season well, but slowed down in the last few weeks. The Gunners have two straight defeats in the Premiership, one in Manchester against City, 1-0, and the most recent one at Emirates vs. Leicester City with the same result. In between, they defeated Rapid Vienna in Austria, and this Thursday beat Dundalk, with both of these successes coming in the Europa League.

In 10 games played so far, six were without goals on both ends, but that became frequent in the previous four contests, with three ending like that. 

Arteta is starting to feel the pressure from the fans for the first time, and the reason for that is Mesut Ozil’s removal from the team. Each time Arsenal fails to win from now on, he will receive numerous critics because of that decision.

However, Arsenal didn’t win in Manchester since 2015, and even then, it wasn’t a Premiership game but the FA Cup. The last triumph before that was in 2006.

Prediction

United has the momentum, and a big swing, which is why we need to bet on their win. Arsenal is still mild in some situations, and we saw that against Leicester, once Foxes took all three points home. Instead of finishing the rival following a big pressure and multiple excellent goal-scoring chances, the Gunners were left empty-handed. Odds on United’s win are +100.
