Philadelphia Eagles Beat Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, 23-9

November 2, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Philadelphia Eagles are alone at the top of the NFC East following this Sunday Night Football. Doug Pedersen’s boys defeated Dallas Cowboys with 23-9 in one very confusing and tough game.

The guests were playing with a rookie seventh-round quarterback Ben DiNucci, while on the other side, the Eagles’ QB Carson Wentz had an awful game. Both sides had 6 turnovers combined, noting that Wentz committed all four from Philly’s side.

At one point, you couldn’t tell the difference between DiNucci and Wentz, and many believed that Eagles might bench their starting QB. For coach Pedersen, that wasn’t the option.

“There was never any conversation to pull him,” he revealed what he and Wentz talked during the game on the sideline.

Wentz ended the night with 123 yards, 15-for27, had two touchdowns, but also two picks, two fumbles, and was sacked four times for 29 yards. He now has 12 interceptions since the beginning of the campaign, the league-high.

The lucky thing for the home team was the fact that the Cowboys also had problems on the quarterback position, as DiNucci too made mistakes. He didn’t have the same amount as Wentz, but each time he handed the football, the Eagles would score. One of his two fumbles resulted in a 53-yard return for TD by Rodney McLeod.

DiNucci had 180 yards, 21-for-40, without picks or interceptions, but with two fumbles and four suffered sacks for 48 negative yards.

“We had a few good drives, got past the 50, and then one thing or another stalled us out,” DiNucci said. “I had two fumbles, had some penalties, some presnap penalties. That stuff is on me. I’ve got to clean that up. This NFL thing, it’s hard. These teams are good,” he stated.

Greg Zuerlein scored all points for the Cowboys, with three very long field goals, 49, 49, and 59 yards. The guests were up at halftime, 9-7, but couldn’t withstand the pressure in the latter part of the game. Philly delivered a touchdown late in the third, with Travis Fulgham catching a 9-yard pass from Wentz, and after that, with 5:18 left, McLeod crushed the Cowboys’ hopes for coming back with a 53-yard return.

“It felt good, it felt good. It didn’t look pretty,” said DE Brandon Graham. “We knew it was gonna be a battle, of course.”

Fulgham had one TD catch, and 78 yards through the air last night, while Jalen Reagor added 16, but with one score. Boston Scott rushed for 70 yards in 15 snaps.

Cowboys average yards per pass play:

Without Dak Prescott: 3.4 (32nd)https://t.co/VmYkz9CmAr

On the other side, Ezekiel Elliott posted just 63 yards on the ground in 19 carries without a score. Tony Pollard had 40 on seven. Michael Gallup had 61 receiving yards, and Dalton Schultz 53.

The only bright spot in the Cowboys’ team was Trevon Diggs, who intercepted Wentz twice.

“Love the way he played, love the competitiveness,” McCarthy said. “He has such a high level of competitive spirit. He had some tough challenges, and the guy just keeps going.”

Dallas is 2-6 now, with the tendency to make this record even worse. They play with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the next round, and even though that game takes place in Arlington, the Cowboys’ prospects aren’t high. Afterward. Dallas travels to Minnesota to meet the Vikings.

The Eagles (3-4-1) have a chance to additionally move away at the top of the NFC East with a victory over the New York Giants next week. Wentz and the crew travel to Cleveland after that to play against the Browns.
