Derby d’Italia: Inter Milan vs. Juventus Preview, Odds, Prediction

Serie A‘s Derby d’Italia, as the fans call games between Inter Milan and Juventus, is one of the main sports events in Europe this weekend. Two of the biggest title contenders clash in their first matchup this season, and the hype surrounding the match is enormous. Even though they aren’t topping the standings (Inter is 2nd and Juve 4th), the majority of fans are convinced that the title race will be decided between these two sides. The hosts had a few slips recently, while Juve comes in firing on all cylinders. Nevertheless, that doesn’t have to mean anything on Sunday night.

Inter (+135) advanced to the next round of the Italian Cup, eliminating Fiorentina in Florence and snapping their two-game winless skid. At first, Nerazzurri lost to Sampdoria on the road, 2-1, before playing 2-2 vs. Roma at Olimpico. Antonio Conte’s side is finally coming back home, after playing four of the previous five matches away from Meazza.

The situation is much different when Inter appears at home, as they have four wins and a draw since the start of December. Their first match in 2021 was one-sided domination against Crotone, 6-2.

When analyzing the efficiency, we immediately noticed a trend in the last six games – all of them with both teams to score, and just one of them ending under 2.5 goals.

Juventus (+185) is an underdog in one domestic match after a long time. To be honest, we can’t remember when was the last time this happened. Though, the Old Lady’s players would disagree with this, we’re pretty sure, as they won the previous four games, scoring 12 goals in total.

Juve packed three hits to Udinese, Sassuolo, and AC Milan in the big derby at the same stadium where they meet Inter. It seems that Ronaldo and the bunch found the perfect rhythm and that they won’t be stopping anytime soon.

There is one small detail that goes under the radar for the majority of the punters. Juve allowed at least one goal in all four above-mentioned games. Pirlo mentioned that on several occasions, but good results covered up this problem.

There should be plenty of goals in this encounter. Inter has a superb attack, Juve too, while their defenses aren’t that stable as we saw in the past few weeks.
