Aaron Rodgers Likes Being Away From the Super Bowl Talks

July 25, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Aaron Rodgers is ready to set fire around the NFL once again. The Green Bay Packers’ quarterback stated earlier today that he likes being considered as an underdog and far away from all the attention.

Rodger, who is arguably one of the best (if not the best) quarterbacks in the league, had an interesting view on the upcoming season. After 13 years with Mike McCarthy in charge, the Packs will have a new head coach and the new philosophy of play. Unlike many who believe that the Packers are going to have problems because of it, their superstar has a different approach.

The media and the fans already wrote off Green Bay from the playoff race, let alone from the odds  of Super Bowl battles. Still, Rodgers has a different opinion. According to his words, he himself witnessed that teams who are not in the middle of the conversations often made a huge noise and went all the way,

“Some of the most dangerous teams from our years were when everybody’s talking about every other team out there except for us, and we can kinda come at our own pace and surprise some people in the beginning.”

"Nobody's talking about us."

And @AaronRodgers likes it that way. #NFLTrainingCamp

Packs were pretty bad in the last two seasons. Their combined record was 13-18-1, and they weren’t near the playoffs. Back in 2017, Rodgers was injured for quite some time, and the team was without a leader, which could be a justification for the poor record. But 6-9-1 made the last season was probably the most frustrating year since Rodgers’ became the starter. The lack of chemistry between the team and the head coach McCarty was apparent, which resulted in a change at the HC position.

That didn’t disrupt Rodgers’ focus, and he is excited to try something new. He spoke about that also, saying that one needs to be open for different ideas and adjusting to certain matters.

I am excited about it,” Rodgers told. “The most important thing with change is to embrace it. Being comfortable with the uncomfortable parts of it. When you’ve been in a system for so long, you have a way of doing things. The first part is being open to change.”

For the vast majority of the public, Rodgers had been a victim of his former conservative head coach who prevented him from exploiting the whole potential. McCarty was an old-school guy who never took any risks and was too straightforward. One of the biggest strengths Rodgers has, his creativity, was never used in full capacity because of it. According to many, if he had some different play-caller, the Packers would no doubt have at least one Super Bowl more.

"Don't act surprised!"

The two-time MVP is thrilled to have Matt LaFleur besides him in the upcoming campaign, saying that he had the opportunity to see his craft last year when Packers played against the 49ers.

“The scheme works,” Rodgers said. “The stuff they did against us this year against San Fran was unbelievable. We were watching on the sidelines going, ‘That’s pretty cool.'”

LeFleur has 39 years, and many see him as the bright future of the NFL. Green Bay didn’t have any doubts when it came to finding the fitting replacement for McCarty. The board was positive that LeFleur has all that takes to make the Packers great again.

The franchise had a lot of changes this year; latest one of them was the release of the former Pro Bowl Mike Daniels. After failed attempts to trade the 30-year old, Packs’ management decided to let go of the defensive end.
