Arsenal and Manchester United meet in a friendly international at MetLife Stadium. This is their first big meeting on a US tour and the one that could show us a lot about the quality of these two powerhouses. Yes, it’s still early for any prognosis or opinions, but after 90 minutes, some things will be much clearer. Arsenal had a chance to take the Premier League title last season but wasted it in the final phase of the championship. United’s season looked well at one point, but it turned out to be mediocre in the end, with the team barely reaching the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal (+140) played one exhibition event in the USA against the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday night. Before that contest, we’ve seen them facing Watford and Nurnberg, and both games saw the same outcome: a 1-1 draw. 

Mikel Arteta has plenty of work ahead of him, but we have to say that the Spanish manager got an upgrade from the previous season as Arsenal landed two massive names, Declan Rie and Kai Havertz. The first will be a brutal addition to the Gunners’ midfield, as he already is one of the most dominant physical players in the world, while the second gives more options in the attack.

Gabriel Jesus is the leader of the unit, but with Havertz, he will have more space upfront, and that’s of vital importance for Arsenal’s game. The Gunners like to attack, and they dictate the tempo through offense.

Manchester United (+185) met with Leeds winning 2-0 and against Lyon, whom they defeated 1-0. The latter event was this Wednesday, and Van de Beek scored the only goal in the 49th minute. Ten Hag gave all the players a chance, including Mason Mount, who played the opening 45 minutes. 

United entered the UCL, and that’s what saved the season for them. Previously, they did win the EFL Cup with a victory over Newcastle in the finals, but that isn’t something that satisfied the fans. 

They weren’t active as some other teams on the market, and apart from Mount, there weren’t any high-caliber signings. The former Chelsea forward was considered the missing piece in Ten Hag’s puzzle, but it is too early to guess whether United did the right thing by signing him.

Arsenal will be aggressive and offensive-minded, while United seemed more oriented on defense in these two previous tests. Still, against the Gunners, they don’t have too many options and need to accept a bit more aggressive and attacking approach. Due to this, both teams to score is the best possible bet, and right now, it is priced at -195.
