Bayern Munich Closing on a Deal With Manchester City About Leroy Sane

May 6, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Bayern Munich is wrapping up a deal with Manchester City, which would see Leroy Sane changing his uniform. The young German forward should become the latest addition of the five-time European champs.

Sane is a wish of Bayern’s management for a long time, and even before he went to City, the Bavarians were trying to get him from Schalke 04. It seems that the most successful German club will finally put its hands on him.

One of the most famous German soccer insiders Christian Falk who works for the Bild newspapers, claims that the player and Bayern already agreed on terms and it is up to two teams to finalize the entire deal and sort things out between themselves.

Our Story: as soon as @FCBayern and @ManCity find an agreement, Sané will sign a five-year contract in Munich. Club and Player have reached an agreement @SPORTBILD

— Christian Falk (@cfbayern) May 6, 2020

“Our Story: as soon as @FCBayern and @ManCity find an agreement, Sané will sign a five-year contract in Munich. Club and Player have reached an agreement @SPORTBILD,” Faulk wrote on his Twitter account.

Since this morning, several scenarios appeared, and one which was revealed by several high-ranked media is that Bayern’s first offer to Manchester City was €40 million. The same media are suggesting that City isn’t willing to let go the pacey winger below €60 million, as they paid Schalke just eight million fewer.

During his time at Etihad, Sane won seven trophies, and an award for EPL’s best young player of the year 2018. He was one of the most important players of Guardiola’s team, which won two consecutive Premier League titles in 2017 and 2018.

Sane’s fantastic technique and incredible vision are his main characteristics, and at one point, he was by far the best player of the Sky-Blues. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury in the first appearance this season. It was a Community Shield clash against Liverpool, when Sane had to go out after just 10 minutes of play. The 24-year old tore his ACL, and he wouldn’t play since that moment.

In three full seasons, the player posted 134 games and 39 goals, but his impact on the performances eclipses those numbers. Sane is an extremely fast and creative attacker who can draw the attention of several defenders, opening the space for other teammates, and making them easier to execute.

Bayern Munich has been desperate to buy this fellow in the last 18 months. The rumors about their interest in Sane emerged at the start of 2019, but they reached the peak during the previous summer transfer window. It seemed that the desire for a transfer was mutual, but at that time, Manchester City didn’t want to let go of one of their best players.

Things are different now and the Sky-Blues who are in problems and won’t be competing in European competitions, are willing to sell the Sane.

Bayern meanwhile needs a player of his type to fill in the gap after Arjen Robben, and Franck Ribery retired. The Germans prefer an ultra-offensive style of play which revolves around ultra-talented wingers. That’s been the case over the last decade, and it seems that the management wants to continue with such an approach.

In the meantime, Bayer is doing solid this season, as they lead Bundesliga and are in the quarterfinals fo the Champions League. With Sane on board, they are going to be even better in the upcoming season.
