Carson Wentz Injured, Nick Foles Starts Vs Rams

December 14, 2018 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Philadelphia Eagles once again lost their quarterback during December. Whether is that some black magic or something else, the Eagles are without their leader, and that is a huge blow for them and their playoffs race.

According to various sources, Wentz has fractured vertebrae which will keep him away from the field for some time.

“A recent CT scan on Carson Wentz’s back revealed a fractured vertebrae that, if allowed time to rest, would fully heal without further expected issues, sources tell ESPN. ” Adam Schefter wrote on his Twitter account earlier today.

A recent CT scan on Carson Wentz’s back revealed a fractured vertebrae that, if allowed time to rest, would fully heal without further expected issues, sources tell ESPN. There will be a continued evaluation to determine if continuing to play this year will make injury worse.

What is also known, is the fact that there won’t be any surgery involved in the recovery process, which comes as a huge relief, as most of the fans thought that some operational procedures are going to be necessary to improve the overall condition of his injury. Like always when they occur, the process of healing is long, and much more difficult than the usual one.

“With no surgery coming for #Eagles QB Carson Wentz, rest is the key. That’s why he’s not expected to play on Sunday — with QB Nick Foles starting.” Ian Rapoport wrote on his Twitter account.

This is the fourth major injury he suffered since 2015: Previous season’s torn ACL and LCL, his fractured ribs in August of 2016, and a broken wrist in October 2015.

It is something which uneasiness the Eagles nation.

This recent run of developments forced Doug Pedersen to reactivate Nick Foles and re-install him at his quarterback position. Foles was out since Week 3, when he appeared in the opening two matchups at the opening of the season.

The Eagles won the game at the Lincoln Financial Field against the Falcons with 18-12, while on the other hand, they lost in Tampa Bay versus the Buccs 21-27. Foles recorded 54 completions in 82 attempts for one touchdown and one interception combined.

Now that is a bit below his Super Bowl appearance, but that doesn’t bother Foles who knows how to play in these situations. He knows what to do, he’s been here, and he has everything set to amaze the world once again.

Tight end Zach Ertz stated that he doesn’t want to make any difference between the two QB’s, and that each of them has enough respect and the confidence from the team. This especially goes for the last year’s Super Bowl MVP.

“I just want everyone to know that we’ve got full confidence in the guy,” Ertz said. “No one’s asking him to do too much. We just want him to be himself, but at the same time, guys love playing for him.” he told the media.

“Its tough. But Nick is a Super Bowl MVP quarterback for a reason. We have a ton of confidence in him. He’s going to go out there and give his all like he always does”

”Nick is a heck of a QB. We’re excited to play for him”

The Eagles are 6-7 at the moment, and they travel to Los Angeles to face the biggest Super Bowl contender, the Rams who have only 2 defeats this season. It will be one tough contest, and a massive favorite in this one is obvious, but be aware. All the teams who played against the Eagles last season after Wentz went out were in the same position.

Now, if Philly makes an upset and wins at the Coliseum, they will have solid chances of reaching the playoffs. Minnesota is the last-placed team in the playoff zone and they have 6-6-1. The Eagles would have 7-7 in that situation.

After this game, they have Texans at home, who already won the division and can calculate in the last matches, and finally in the ultimate contest of the season which will be played in DC, the Redskins. With these wins, the Eagles have solid prospects of entering the postseason.

And with Foles there with them, everything has a totally different view and perspective.

For all of you who forgot, Nick Foles replaced injured Wentz against the Rams. Now, the history repeats itself.
