Chelsea’s Boss Leaves Practice As Two Stars Get Into Altercation

May 28, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Chelsea is in a bad situation before the Europa League finals. During tonight’s training session, two of their big stars David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain were involved in an incident, after which Chelsea’s coach Maurizio Sarri left the pitch and headed for the locker room.

It appears that the Italian coach couldn’t stand to see two of his players arguing with one another and expressed his frustration by leaving the field. Also, the overall situation regarding his contract might be one of the reasons for this action. Sarri is under heavy pressure after some speculations that he might lose the job regardless of the result in Baku, and for the first time in the last two months, he openly spoke about that.

The official statement of Chelsea is that Sarri’s reaction didn’t have anything with Luiz and Higuain, but with the fact that his team couldn’t practice some tactical plays for tomorrow’s match.

“Maurizio’s frustration displayed at the end of training was not related to any of his players, but was due to not being able to practice set-plays in the final 15 minutes of the hour-long training session as it remained open to media,” said the spokesman of the Blues.

Now, some 60 minutes before that, the Italian just scratched the surface of his current situation in the club. He mentioned that talks about the future will take place after the finals, as tomorrow’s match has the utmost importance for him right now.

“I have to consider the future,” Sarri stated at one point.

Over the course of the past several weeks, Chelsea’s manager was constantly in the media. Various media were speculating with the names of his replacements, and the former boss of Napoli was projected to be a part of the Blues history after the season ends.

The latest story is that his countryman Massimiliano Allegri might sign with the club from London, and according to some information he already reached some sort of an agreement with the Blues. But also, several prominent media said that he might go in the opposite direction, and sit on the Old Lady’s bench.

Sarri could save his job at Chelsea if he wins tomorrow. However the recent events are not going in his favor, and they could only damage the chemistry and the morale of the team before the match with the local rivals.

At the beginning of the season, Chelsea played very well and was leveled with Liverpool and Manchester City. But as time went by, they started to lose pace, because of injuries and some unlucky performances. The Blues are a team with the most crossbar and post hits in the entire Premier League, and that cost them a lot during the campaign.

Eventually, they ended third and secured the Champions League place for the next season, which was the goal. Chelsea missed this edition of the most prominent European competition, and that was a huge blow for the club.

If they win the European trophy, that might turn this season from a mediocre into a solid one. Europa League is not the Champions League or one of the domestic cup competitions, but certainly has high value and will bring some joy to the fans.

The game against Arsenal starts tomorrow at 4 pm ET. Chelsea is the favorite, but as often seen in the clashes between these two sides, the odds before the game doesn’t have to mean anything.

Expect a good and exciting match.
