Christian Pulisic Scores a “Perfect Hat-Trick”, Chelsea Defeats Burnley 2-4

October 26, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Fantastic Christian Pulisic led his Chelsea to a huge win over Burnley in Premier League’s last fixture this Saturday. The leader of the United States soccer team scored a hat-trick, posting a masterful performance for the Blues, who crushed the Clarets with 2-4.

Turf Moor and some 22 thousand people got to see the magic provided by the 21-year American. It was his first hat-trick in the Premier League and an indication of his better roles in the future. He also became the youngest guy in the Blues history to score three goals at one match. Pulisic has 21 years and 38 days, and he surpassed Tammy Abraham, his current teammate, who did the same thing with 21 years and 347 days, back on September 14.

“It’s unreal. What a day for me, obviously. I’ve even happier with the result, although I wish we’d kept a clean sheet,” he said after the game ended.

But there is more regarding his fantastic productivity today. Pulisic is the first American since Clint Dempsey to score a hat-trick and the first Blues since Didier Drogba to have a “perfect hat-trick,” meaning that he scored with his both of his legs and his head.

Truly impressive.

His first goal came after 21 minutes of play after stealing the ball near the middle of the field and storming his way towards the goal. He reached the box and sent a left-footed strike that hit the back of the hosts’ net.

In the last moment of the first half, the American struck again. Willian picked up one of the numerous bad passes sent from Burnley’s back line, and he instantly found Pulisic near the box. The scenario was similar to the one twenty minutes ago; run towards the goal and a shot. Only this time, he used his right leg and had small help from one of the rival’s defenders who changed the path of the ball.

His third score came following Mason Mount’s cross, and the former Dortmund player was moving away from the goal in order to make an angle for a header. According to his words, it is the first time in his career to net a header.

“Back in my youth days, I scored a few headers – but professionally, no! This is only the second one I can remember. I was just able to flick it on, and when I turned round I couldn’t believe it had gone in!”

Many media were reporting recently, that Pulisic didn’t convince manager Frank Lampard that he deserves the place in the starting lineup. The American international arrived from Borussia Dortmund this summer for €64 million and was projected to be the replacement for Eden Hazard, who left for Real Madrid.

Some even went too far, claiming that Lampard doesn’t count on the fantastic midfielder. But after today’s match, Chelsea’s boss explained why he kept Pulisic on this bench for so long.

“He had a week’s break this summer. He arrived for a big price and wanted to come straight back in, but at the same time, why am I going to throw him in? So I have to do it in the right way and get the best out of him. I’m delighted for him.”

Until the end of the match, the guests from London added one more goal, with Willian posting his name on the scoresheet. In the late part of the game, the hosts managed to score twice through Jay Rodrigues and Dwight McNeil.

Chelsea is now fourth in the EPL the standings with 20 points in 10 games, five fewer than Liverpool, who sits first. Although, the Reds have a game in hand. But what makes every Blues fan happy are eight straight wins in all competitions, four of them coming on the road.

Up next, Pulisic and his teammates are playing a big derby in the English Football League cup against Manchester United this Wednesday.
