Dallas Mavericks Humiliate the New Orleans Pelicans, 130-84

December 7, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Dallas Mavericks humiliated the New Orleans Pelicans tonight, inflicting Alving Gentry’s team one of the toughest losses this season. In the end, it was 130-84 for the second-placed team in the Western Conference, who harassed the young guests throughout the entire event. At one moment, Doncic and the guys had a 50-point gap.

“We played fast, we played tough,” Boban Marjanovic told the reporter during the on-court interview.

After the first period, the Pelicans were still in the game, although they trailed nine points at one moment. A solid finish of the sequence brought them just three points from the Mavs, but that didn’t last for too long. With a little bit less than four minutes into the second, both teams were tied, at 38-all, and Dallas suddenly made a 13-1 run, which brought them a double-digit lead. The two teams would trade buckets until the end of the first halftime, with the distance staying bearable for the guests.

However, the Mavericks exploded after the pause, scoring 33 and allowing just 8 points, extending the lead to 37 buckets, 97-60. It was one of the finest displays they had this season.

“When they got some separation, we stopped competing. That’s the worst thing you can do,” said Gentry about his team.

Of course, they didn’t slow down, but continued to pound the poor Pelicans, until the end, setting the final score at 130-84.

Luka Doncic was masterful, playing 26 minutes and scoring 26 points, adding 9 assists and 6 rebounds. One of the candidates for the MVP award showcased why many believe he is the next superstar.

Also, we need to mention Boban Marjanovic who added 15 buckets and 16 boards off the bench, with two blocks, missing just one of his 7 shots from the floor. He was in the mood after the game, and was joking while giving the interview.

“I feel amazing, first time on TV, hi mom, hi dad,” the Serbian giant said hello to his parents back home. “I am here in Dallas.”

Boban posted a double-double for the first time since the last season when he faced the Pelicans.

“I just go on the floor and play basketball, it just happened to be them,” Bobi said.

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson scored 15 each, while Kristaps Porzingis scored 13. The Mavericks were 46 for 86 from the field, 53.5%.

Meanwhile, the guests were terrible when it comes to shooting. New Orleans was 32 for 89 from the game, and they made just three threes in 32 attempts, which is a disgrace for one NBA side. JJ Redick scored 15 points, having a team-high, and Jrue Holiday and Brandon Ingram delivered 14 each,

Also, the Mavs were superior in the air, having 55 boards compared to 34 of the guests.

The Pelicans are sitting second to the last in the West, with 6 wins and 17 defeats, They now have a clash against the Detroit Pistons at home and after that play against the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Philadelphia 76ers on the road. Behind these two events, NO awaits the Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets.

On the other side, the Mavs (16-6) meet the Sacramento Kings at home, before traveling to Detroit. Unexpectedly they rose to the second place in the West, and are behind the Lakers, but with a knowledge that they can beat the purple and gold. The Mavs already did that this season, with Luka Doncic, completely destroying the Lakers’ defense, including LeBron James who felt the qualities of the young Slovenian.
