English Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City Betting Preview, Odds, Prediction

July 17, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Tottenham and Leicester are bringing the finest game of the day this Saturday. The Foxes are in a difficult situation as they need to win here and keep the place that leads to the Champions League. Manchester United is one point behind them waiting for its chance to jump in and secure the invitation for the most prominent European club competition. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho is known for being a party crasher, and the one who often enjoys once ruining someone’s plans. So expect Tottenham sharp as ever in this meeting.

Preview

Tottenham (+125) is currently occupying place no.7 in the English Premier League standings. The Spurs are one point behind the Wolves who are in the place which leads to the Europa League qualifiers, but it appears that position No.7 would also lead to the same phase of this European competition because of the FA Cup winners (unless Arsenal triumphs).

Anyhow, Tot’ham is without a loss in four straight events, posting three wins and a draw. Some might say that their form came too late, but it is what it is. After keeping clean sheets on two occasions, against Everton at home 1-0, and Bournemouth 0-1, Mourinho’s lads beat Arsenal 2-1 (following a comeback) and Newcastle in the last round, 1-3 on the road.

We need to point out that since the restart of the EPL activities, they haven’t lost at home – 3 wins and a draw.

Leicester (+240) showed some signs of life after a horrendous restart of the EPL activities. The Foxes were considered to be safe for the Champions League participation. Still, their poor form followed by an incredible decision of CAS to overturn the ban on Manchester City brought them in a pretty nasty situation.

Meltdown in Bournemouth once they allowed four goals in the second half, after leading 0-1 at the break, could cost them dearly. They would bounce back with a 2-0 over Sheffield United after that, yet, Brendan Rodgers’ side needs to go against the odds now. Apart from this one, they have a match against United in the last round.

Did you know that Leicester didn’t win away from home since late January, which is seven games in a row? They did score in every single game after the restart, but that is of no consolation for their fans.

Latest News

The biggest enigma in Tottenham is Dele Alli’s condition, but it seems that Mourinho won’t take any risks with him. He would prefer to keep the excellent midfielder resting as there is no particular reason to get him involved in this match. Lucas Moura is also doubtful, Serge Aurier is expected to play. NDombele is out for sure.

Albrighton and Amartey are both questionable, while Chilwell, Fuchs, Maddison, and Pereria won’t play. The absence of the first two is a big hit for the Foxes.

Head to Head Games

Tottenham has 56 wins throughout history, Leicester 20 fewer, and 21 games ended without a winner. Leicester won the first game of the campaign at home, 2-1. The Spurs had a lead at the halftime, but Maddison scored a game-winner five minutes before the end to make a complete comeback.

Prediction

This game will be a bit more cautious, mostly because of Rodgers’ intention to keep it safe and wait for a chance to strike from the counter-attack. Mourinho will have some tactics, we aren’t sure which one, but it is hard to believe that he wants to attack the guests right away. That is why moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals is our choice here. The odds on it are pretty solid, -105.
