Erling Haaland After his Debut: “I Came Here to Score Goals”

January 18, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Erling Haaland is not the future of modern football. He is present. The talented Norwegian scored three goals today on his debut for Borussia Dortmund and set the entire world on fire.

The 19-year old needed just 20 minutes on the field to prove why the entire top layer of European clubs wanted to sign him not asking for a price. The tall blonde kid netted three times, pulling his new team to a 5-3 win.

It was a blockbusting performance of the former Molde and Red Bull Salzburg player who threatens to break all the scoring records set throughout the history.

“I came here to score goals,” Haaland told the reporters. “It’s a good debut for me. We just have to take it game by game, then we’ll see what happens.”

Twenty minutes later he completed his hat-trick and they won 5-3 😳

The youngster wasn’t very euphoric, unlike the supporters of the hosts, who were in extasy. Their team was down one goal at the halftime after numerous chances missed, and as soon as the second half started, conceded another goal.

In the moments when Haaland entered the game, Borussia was losing 3-1, but all that changed in no time. He needed just three minutes to score, to cut the gap to one goal. It was his first shot on goal in Bundesliga, and it couldn’t be better.

English forward Jadon Sancho leveled the score shortly after, before Haaland’s fury, during which he added two more strikes to sunk Augsburg’s ship.

“If you look at this support, then you can see why. It’s amazing to play in front of these and it just gives you more joy to play football in front of such passionate fans,” Halland said.

With this hat-trick, he became only the seventh player in the history of Bundesliga to score three times on his debut. The previous guy who did that was another Millionaire, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. And interestingly, the team across the field was also Augsburg.

Haaland is also the youngest hat-trick scorer in Borussia Dortmund’s history and the youngest international in Bundesliga with the same achievement.

“I don’t think we’ve had that kind of striker since Robert Lewandowski,” Marco Reus Dortmund’s captain described the newest addition to his team.

At the moment, the former European champions and the 8-time German title winners, are fourth in the standings with 33 points, same as Bayern Munich, who has a game in hand. Meanwhile, Borussia Moenchengladbach is second with 35, and RB Leipzig first with 40 points.

Dortmund had a few slips this season where they lost valuable points, but with Haaland now, their chances of taking the title are dramatically improved.

It is no wonder why Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint Germain wanted this young guy in their respective teams. United was labeling Haaland as a savior, the one missing piece, which will make them competitive again. They’ve put a lot of hope in Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to recruit the teenager because he played in the same team where Solskajer worked before taking over the Red Devils.

His arrival to Dortmund was a sensation, and something nobody could participate. But according to the initial impressions, it seems that Haaland made the best possible decision. Here he has a young and energetic squad, which likes to play offensive and fast, the way he too prefers to be. The German Bundesliga definitely promises an interesting battles until the end of the season.
