Belgium and Austria compete to take the top spot in the 2024 EURO qualifiers Group F. With Sweden, they are the top favorites for the first two places leading to Germany next year. Austria started the competition very well, with two wins in two events, while Belgium played only one game, routinely notching three points. They are the favorites before the kickoff, but the Austrians have been playing solid lately and want to keep on the positive streak.

Belgium (-170) had a tragic adventure in the World Cup in Qatar, finishing its journey in the group stage with one loss, tie, and win each. What they missed in the deciding game against Croatia will be remembered for quite some time, with Romelu Lukaku being at the center of the action back then. 

The only game the Devils played in the EURO qualifiers was against Sweden on the road and we’ve seen them wiping the grass with the rivals, winning 0-3. Belgium looked ruthless in that one, and Lukaku scored a hat-trick, finally reminding everyone of his potential.

After that, De Bruyne and the crew played against Germany on the road, beating the great rivals 3-2. It seems that the shock from the World Cup disappeared, as Belgium played both events pretty well. 

Austria (+425) is on a roll, with four straight wins. After a very poor performance in the UEFA Nations League, where they posted one win in six appearances, along with four defeats, the Austrian unit radically improved the results. 

Some of the rivals weren’t too hard, like Andora 0-1 on the road, but others, like Italy, whom Austria beat 2-0, prove that Ralf Rangnick’s crew improved. Both of these events were friendly international, while the wins in the EURO qualifiers were recorded against Azerbaijan, 4-1, and Estonia, 2-1. 

This team tries to play fast football, with plenty of cut-ins and flank attacks, but overall, they tend to be a bit more fragile in defense because of all the attacking assignments the backs have.

The 2012 EURO qualifiers saw the two countries clashing in the same group. The first meeting in Brussels was fantastic, ending with a 4-4 tie, while the second in Vienna saw the guests winning 0-2. Before that, Austria and Belgium met in 1979, and both games finished without winners.

Prediction

Belgium has been highly confident at home throughout the years, and even though Austria plays well, they can’t compete with the Devils. Many will now say that Kevin De Bruyne’s absence might slow down the hosts, but that’s not the case because of this squad’s incredible star power. We expect to see Belgians closing this contest with confidence and without any problems, winning by at least a two-goal margin. The odds for that are very profitable, +175.
