Fnatic vs Invictus Gaming – LoL World Championship – Grand Finals

November 2, 2018 By Shehryar Raza Leave a Comment

After a very intense month of League of Legends, the World Cup is about to end. The best teams in the world have tried by all means to reach the decisive match that proclaims them champions.

Finally, only Fnatic and Invictus Gaming have managed to keep their options alive. Now, in the grand finals, there can only be one. Throughout the tournament, they have been the best and reached the final on their own merits. However, on their way here, they have not shown all their cards. Both teams have in their ranks players who can play very surprising champions and win the final.

The European team returns to a final of LoL World Championship 7 years later. G2 Esports loses 3-0 against Invictus Gaming in semi-finals who made their first appearance ever in the Grand Finale.

There’s just one reason why we have picked this match for you. It is the Grand Finale of the biggest and most unpredictable League of Legends competition in the world. No team is a clear favorite and it will be a very good practice to pick out a winner of this highly rated final.

Group Stage

From the first week of competition, it was seen that this tournament was not going to be like anything else. The Korean teams have not shown the superiority of other years and the other regions have raised their level a lot. Because of this, the Worlds 2018 final will feature a Chinese team, Invictus Gaming, and a European team, Fnatic. If we talk about Fnatic, then the team will seek its second LoL World Championship after seven years. Invictus might be the first seed of China but haven’t been convincing in their conquest. Their playoffs performance might have been phenomenal, but their group stage performance is full of errors which can be easily exploited by the European squad. While Fnatic has been phenomenal in the competition, they come with the most impressive record. They have the least defeats compared to any team that made its ways to the playoffs.

Fnatic and Invictus Gaming met each other in the group stage where they came to play 3 games, with a 2-1 in favor of the Europeans. Those matches were exciting, and probably the most action-packed in the tournament.

Semi-Finals

In semi-finals, Invictus Gaming ended the hopes of G2 Esports in the blink of an eye. The Chinese clean swept the Europeans with an unappeasable 3-0, in which lanes were dominated by Wadid and Hjarnan. Moreover, the other members of G2 did not perform at the level they had been doing in the competition. Neither Perkz nor Wunder had his day and they ended up paying with the elimination. Despite that, G2 Esports played very well throughout the whole tournament.

The second semi-final was the most anticipated, mainly due to the rivalry that exists between the NA and EU regions. It was the most important game in that fight, and Fnatic went over Cloud 9 with a convincing 3-0 victory. The Europeans gave no option to a team that showed the shortcomings of the regular season. All the members of Fnatic surrendered at their best level and when that happens, it is almost impossible to beat them.

After owning their rivals in such a dominant fashion, both Fnatic and Invictus Gaming are ready to face each other on the big stage. The level of the two teams in the final is very high. So, you will see a show worthy of the best World Championships in the history of League of Legends.

There is no clear prediction who will lift the trophy this year. When Cloud 9 defeated Afreeca Freecs, Invictus Gaming defeated KT, and RNG were defeated by G2, it was clear that this LoL World Championship cannot be taken for granted.

Star Players

Rekkles

Rekkles is the player who has accompanied Fnatic during the good and bad times. He is now the leader of the group. Coming into the professional field from a very young age, Rekkles has been climbing positions to be one of the best in his position, able to win games alone at the last moment without appearing in team fights throughout the match. Last year’s defeat did not sit well with the shooter, who has come to Korea with clear intentions to lift the trophy. Rekkles has won the most MVP titles this year.

TheShy

The top-laner of Invictus Gaming has shown very solid performance with the passage of the days. He has improved his level after substitution in the lineup that won the first place of the group D and in the first quarterfinal against KT Rolster. With a very aggressive selection of champions and pretty carry profile, TheShy was one of the main executioners of G2 Esports, thanks to his most dominating performance in the Summoner’s Rift. He made Martin ‘Wunder’ Hansen’s life impossible and took several solo kills in all three games. In the third map, in spite of a minor setback, he knew how to recover and took the flight to command the comeback with the rest of his teammates.

Final Verdict

The fact that Fnatic has beaten Invictus Gaming twice is good enough to tell us that Fnatic is the favorite to lift the trophy. Before the semis, Fnatic statistically dominated in gold and exp gain. They might not have the most number of kills, but they know how to exploit the map to their advantage. So, we can say that Fnatic will come out as the winners.

Fnatic 3 – 1 Invictus Gaming

The final ceremony will begin on Saturday, November 3. Riot Games want the fans to live it in the best possible way. For that, there will be movie theaters, bars, events, and gaming centers that will open their doors to retransmit the grand finals.
