GOAT Tom Brady Retires After 22 Years, Seven Super Bowl Rings

January 29, 2022 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

According to Adam Schefter and several other sources after 22 years of playing in the NFL, Tom Brady will retire.

The internet exploded tonight, after the news broke out about Tom Brady’s decision to retire. Even though there hasn’t been any official confirmation from the player himself, several sources have reportedly confirmed that to Adam Schefter, who is the leading NFL analyst and insider.

After 22 years of playing, arguably the greatest player of all time and one of the biggest names in the history of all sports, decided to put an end to his historic career. Despite being healthy and one of the best players in the league, Brady chose not to enter his 23rd season as a pro.

He had superb stats in the year behind, throwing 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns and leading the league in those categories. But even so, over the past few weeks, there have been certain indications about his intention to hang up the cleats when the campaign ends. Brady didn’t want to have a farewell season, like some other players, deciding to go without hype and publicity.

Many are asking what is the reason for retirement after one of the best individual seasons in his career. According to the same sources, several factors influenced the decision. Brady has already started his own business in several branches, and apart from that, he wants to spend more time with the family.

Tom Brady won seven Super Bowls and set numerous landmarks that will probably stay unmatched for a long, long time. He holds the record for the most passing yards, with 84,520 and touchdowns, 624. Brady was a three-time NFL MVP and the five-time Super Bowl MVP.

He was drafted as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft and was projected to be the fourth-string QB in the first season, which he ended with only three passing attempts and one completion. After that, everything else is history.

His first passing touchdown title came in 2002, and the last, fifth, this year. Brady was selected for the Pro Bowl game on 15 occasions. This is just a glimpse of his illustrious career, and if we started writing all the incredible stats he recorded, that would take a while.

He spent the first two decades in league with the New England Patriots, making them arguably the biggest franchise in the NFL, but decided to leave Foxborough two years ago and join the Buccaneers, where he won his seventh Super Bowl ring.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have a proper farewell because his Bucs lost in the Divisional Round against the LA Rams, 30-27. Tampa Bay faced many problems this season, especially in the second part of the campaign when several players picked up injuries, and when Antonio Brown once again had outbursts that eventually culminated with him leaving the team in the middle of the game.

That had a massive impact on the field, and the Buccaneers couldn’t repeat the last year’s success. Tampa Bay will now have to find another starting QB, and according to many, Kyle Trask, this year’s rookie, has the potential to lead this team into the inevitable rebuild.

As for Tom Brady, it is hard to give any conclusion. Usually, we all want these stories to last forever, and nobody wants to see them end. This was one heck of a ride, not just for the GOAT but for all of us who watched him.

Enjoy your retirement Tom. WagerBop.com editorial staff wishes you nothing but the best.
