Israel Adesanya Trashes Paulo Costa, Jan Blachowicz Demolishes Dominick Reyes

September 27, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Israel Adesanya is still the champion, while Jan Blachowicz became one at tonight’s UFC 253 held on Fight Island. Both guys were commanding against their rivals, fully deserving their wins, which both came via TKO in the second round.

Adesanya Dominates Costa

Adesanya handled Paulo Costa much easier than anyone expected, and the Last Stylebender confirmed right now there aren’t any decent opponents for him in the middleweight category.

“I had to make y’all remember. I had to remind the world why we the best,” said Adesanya, following the win.

His ferocious left punch, which was a counter, ended on Costa’s temple, with the Brazilian immediately falling down on the ground. After that, there was no way for him to avoid the vicious ground-and-pound of the fired-up champion, who didn’t miss a chance to humiliate his rival once again and show open dislike towards him.

“I still don’t like him,” Adesanya said. “I don’t know him personally, I don’t wish he dies or anything, he’s alive, I let him be alive. This is the game we play. This is violence, and I told you guys that it was going to be violent”

It was 3:59 of the second round once the referee in the ring decided to stop the fight and save Costa from additional beating.

Adesanya stated after the match that he wants to face Jared Cannonier next. The American first has a fight with the former champ, Robert Whittaker, whom Izzy dethroned previously.

As for Costa, there still aren’t any words from his side, and he probably has a hard time understanding what hit him.

Blachowicz’s Impressive Power

The Pole, who had four defeats in five matches at one point of his career, went on to win eight of the previous nine, with the latest being the most important. He became the first male UFC champion from Poland and the second overall after Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

The 37-year old steamrolled over Dominick Reyes, who was a massive favorite coming up into this event. He would immediately call out Jon Jones after winning the belt.

“The only thing in my mind is, Jon Jones, where are you?” Blachowicz said. “This is how we do it in Poland. I’m waiting for you.”

It seems that Bones accepted that offer, as he wrote an interesting status on his Twitter account.

“Would you guys be annoyed if I went back and grabbed my belt real quick?”

Regarding the match, Blachowicz was very convincing. The only moment when he had trouble, was right after the start with Reyes sending one solid strike that surprised the Pole and made him confused. After that, it was all about him.

Left-leg kicks massacred Reyes’s ribs and definitely did a lot of damage early on. Coming into the second, it was obvious that the Devastator can’t defend properly, and he became more aggressive, but only to suffer a big beating and a dislocated and broken nose.

A big combo of the new champ sent Reyes on the canvas, and after that, he got on top of him briefly because the referee stopped the match. It was obvious that the American has no chance to defend himself at all.

If everything goes well, Blachowicz should meet Jones. But if that doesn’t happen, he will probably defend his title against the better from Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos. The latter one is the last to defeat the Pole.
