Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Has COVID-19, Reportedly in a Bad Condition

May 18, 2020 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Khabib Nurmagomedov is experiencing a huge family drama at the moment, as his father, Abdulmanap, finds himself in bad condition due to the COVID-19 virus. The UFC superstar revealed that today.

In his address to the fans via Instagram, the undefeated lightweight champion stated that his father had heart complications provoked by the Coronavirus.

Khabib made a video earlier today, in which he shared the news, and also tried to raise the awareness among the people, especially back in his Dagestan, advising them to stay at home and follow the health guidelines provided by the authorities.

“I want to thank all the people for your support, wishes, and your prayers. I also wish you all the best. Be safe and healthy. Thank you very much.”

While explaining the situation, Khabib unveiled that his father had heart surgery, second in the last two years.

“My father is still at the hospital. He’s still going through this disease. He also had a heart complication due to COVID-19. Abdulmanap had surgery for his heart last year and also had the second one these days [sic], so he is still in bad condition. That’s all I can say.”

Just to remind you, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was in a medically induced coma last week, due to pneumonia difficulties. However, things became even worse, and his condition worsened, forcing the doctors to perform surgery.

Nobody knows the details surrounding this case, but it seems that the situation is not good at all, especially if Khabib decided to talk about it in public. Right now, the COVID-19 infection is striking Dagestan hard, as well as entire Russia.

Nurmagomedov, himself, admitted that more than 20 members of his family members caught the infection and that some of them aren’t even alive. Most of them are in intensive care, with the doctors fighting for their lives.

COVID-19 interrupted Khabib’s plans and affected his life in a pretty lousy way so far. Because of this disease, the Russian Eagle didn’t meet Tony Ferguson in one of the most anticipated UFC fights ever and missed a chance to settle down several issues with El Cucuy.

Back then, Dana White was trying to find a location for the fight, and in all the fuzz regarding the same, the Russian and his crew went to UAE. They would receive some information that the contest might be organized there.

But once they landed, Nurmagomedov got the news that the country would close its borders soon. The entire team packed and came back to Russia, unwillingly shutting the door for the Ferguson fight due to a higher power.

As you all know, Justin Gaethje jumped in instead of the champ and beat the hell out of El Cucuy, whose eight-year and 12-match defeatless streak stopped in that bout.

According to the UFC experts and insiders, Khabib should face Gaethje next, in the match for the undisputed lightweight champion. Yet, so far, nobody knows when would that be.

Also, various speculations involving his rematch against Conor McGregor are constantly in the media, but it appears that for now, that isn’t going to happen. Khabib asserted numerous times that he doesn’t want to give the Notorious a chance until he wins a couple of tough matches.

Anyway, even if there were some contacts on this matter, for sure, they are all on hold now.
