Liverpool Humiliates Manchester United, Wins 0-5 at Trafford

October 24, 2021 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Liverpool humiliated Manchester United today at Old Trafford, defeating the big rivals, with 0-5. The Reds showed a perfect performance, trashing their biggest opponents and inflicting them one of the biggest losses in the last couple of years.

Mo Salah was the man of the match, netting a hat-trick scored, and having several chances created, with the Egyptian constantly harassing the rivals throughout 90 minutes. Today’s contest was his 10th consecutive in which he scored, proving that he is arguably the best player in the world right now.

“It is a really good day – a big one. This is a little chapter in the history of the club,” said Jurgen Klopp. “People will talk about it in the future because it won’t happen again in a long time, if ever.”

Though, he didn’t have such a hard time against the Red Devils’ defense. United’s backline looked like a bunch of amateurs, who got together for the first time during today’s game.

The first goal came after just five minutes when Naby Keita netted, shocking the entire Trafford. The second one was following Luke Shaw’s poor offside trap, when Mohamed Salah scored, utilizing the rival’s mistake.

Five minutes following that goal, Keita reached the ball and passed it to Alexander-Arnold, who assisted Diego Jota. United was helpless in those moments, looking like a wobbled boxer.

At 2-0, the United’s fans remembered the game against Atalanta, but Mo Salah prevented Wednesday’s scenario from happening. He scored his first goal before halftime, the 105th EPL, tying with Didier Drogba as the African with the most goals.

Salah netted one more in the fourth minute of the injury time, completing the hat trick five minutes into the second half. Luckily for United, the Reds stopped attacking in those moments, and the match finished with the current result.

Salah’s hat-trick was the first one ever at the Old Trafford performed by a guest player in the EPL, which earned the Egyptian the place in all the history books.

We saw Cristiano Ronaldo’s canceled goal following a VAR check and Paul Pogba’s red card until the end of the game. The French was sent off after only 15 minutes on the court, and at that point, everything was pretty much solved in this meeting.

“We know what it takes to win the Premier League, we did it two years ago,” said Salah and added. “From our heads from pre-season, we need to win the Premier League, and hopefully, we go for that.”

We are more than sure that after this defeat, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will leave the club. The Norwegian made many mistakes since taking over United’s bench, but the biggest and the most notable were this years.

For a long time, the former Red Devils striker was under pressure, avoiding the sack. But as time went by, it was obvious that he didn’t have the knowledge and the charisma to lead this team. According to some media, the name that pops up as his potential replacement is Zinedine Zidane.

United will visit Tottenham in the next round, in the derby of the entire weekend. On the other side, Liverpool hosts Brighton, one of the positive surprises this year. In other games of the day, Leicester defeated Brentford on the road, 1-2, and West Ham took down Tottenham, 1-0.
