MiBR vs FaZe Clan – BLAST Pro Series Lisbon 2018

December 14, 2018 By Shehryar Raza Leave a Comment

BLAST Pro Series’ next stop is in Lisbon for the CS: GO tournament.

BLAST Pro Series Lisbon 2018 will be held between 14-15 December 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. A total of 6 teams will compete in the tournament and the prize pool is set to be $ 250.000. The champion of the tournament will leave Lisbon with half of the prize pool of $ 125,000, while the second team will receive $ 50,000. The remaining teams will be rewarded between $ 5,000 and $ 25,000 according to their rankings. Six of the 6 teams that will compete in the tournament were determined by the invitation procedure. As we are accustomed to other BLAST Pro Series, no screening was held before the tournament.

The reason we have picked this match for you is that it is a matchup between two of the most inconsistent teams of the season, MiBR VS FaZe Clan. Both of these teams have star-studded lineups but fail to deliver on the biggest occasions. Let’s see which side will prevail

MiBR

The so-called transfer of SK Gaming to the MiBR was finalized in June. The five players would now act under the name of a legendary tag that represented Brazil very well in CS 1.6. However, the pressure on the players’ shoulders was enormous, so great that a new bad result could lead to further changes in the cast.

Arriving at ESL Cologne 2018, the Brazilians were pressured by results. From a new organization, performance was expected to improve. However, the new shirt did not give new powers to the struggling SK lineup and they fell to the BIG, 2-1, still in the first phase.

After the disaster in Germany, the line-up pushed away from the boltz and brought the American Tarik into the place, generating more revolt in the Brazilian community, who no longer liked the fact that an American defended the colors of Made in Brazil. Now, they would have to deal with two players from outside the country representing “Brazilian CS team”.

Formation of MiBR

The lineup played together for the first time at ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier, but did not go beyond the group stage, losing twice to Team Liquid, who had former SK Gaming’s player, TACO on their team since April.

After the disqualification, the organization temporarily brought the Serbian analyst YNk to act as a coach. Already in the first event, the ZOTAC Cup Masters, the line-up beat Team Kinguin in the final 3-0 and won the title.

Real test for MiBR

At DreamHack Stockholm, FalleN’s side moved into the quarter-finals and went out after a defeat by overwhelming Astralis, 2-0. So, now would arrive the greatest test of this team: FACEIT Major: London 2018.

In the most important event of the second half, FACEIT Major 2018, the expectation was high on MIBR, although they were not even considered as possible candidates for the title. This was even good for taking the weight off the athletes’ backs, but it did not exempt the responsibility of making a good company and standing among the best.

After the first phase with ups and downs and an easy start in the quarterfinals against compLexity Gaming, the three Brazilians and two Americans clashed with the world number 2 NaVi. The boys in black did not go beyond and succumbed to s1mple and his friends by 2-0.

MiBR on Fire – BLAST Pro Series

In the BLAST Pro Series: Istanbul, the Brazilians went well and reached the final, against the champion of Major, Astralis. The Danes crushed them16-0 at the London event, the first time a result of this kind happened in the Majors of CS: GO.

The final happened, and confirming the bets, Astralis won, but to the surprise of many, the MIBR lost 2-1, with a tight 16-14 on the last map, won by the Scandinavian team. It was the result that Brazil needed to state that the MiBR “was back” and that they would be the best in the world again in no time. However, luck was not on their side.

After a month-long break from face-to-face tournaments, the BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2018 arrived, where last year the Brazilians stopped the arena and beat Astralis, giving birth to the “FalleN, the Bad Librarian” meme.

However, after five defeats in five games, Astralis (16-14), Cloud9 (16-13), NiP (16-4), NaVi (16-14) and FaZe (16-7), the distrust of Brazilian fans returned as a meteor that fell on the structure of a team still under construction. However, the side did manage a 3rd-4th place finish at ESL Pro League Season 8 – Finals that took place on December 9, 2018. So they will be confident to face another inconsistent team, FaZe Clan.

FaZe Clan

Regarded as one of the best CS-GO line-ups, at least “on paper”, FaZe Clan has been delivering results to be desired in recent tournaments. With the bad phase during Major League, captain karrigan even handed the captain’s armband to NiKo, something that further evidence the internal conflicts of the team in their way of playing.

GuardiaN, NiKo, and rain are the featured players, especially when we consider the aggressive style of this trio. We believe that in the coming months, we can see changes in the line-up and even the possible departure of karrigan. For us, it is inexcusable to have this phenomenal trio losing to the like of NRG, BIG, and Fnatic.  They have won the EPICENTER 2018, ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018 and the Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Sydney. However, they can be the best and the worst team on their day. The inconsistency of the team is what keeps them back in 2018. FaZe Clan has arguably the best players in the worlds, however, their lack of chemistry is what stopping them from achieving goals. FaZe might have beaten MiBR a couple of times this year but we pick the Brazilian organization as the winner of this encounter since their recent performances are superior to their opponent’s.

Final Verdict

MiBR Victory
