FC Dallas and DC United have ambitions to reach the playoffs this year. Right now, the hosts are in the place that leads to the postseason, while on the other side, the United sits in the position which guarantees the play-in tournament. Both units aren’t enjoying a particularly good form, posting shaky and inconsistent performances. A win in this one would be beneficial for various reasons – getting three points, staying in the playoffs, boosting morale, and gaining consistency.

FC Dallas (+130) is fifth in the West but only three points away from Austin FC, who is in the play-in zone. Furthermore, they have five points more than SKC, the first team outside any playoff talks. 

Just two wins in the recent eight contests are alarming for Nico Estevez and his boys. The good thing is that the most recent contest ended with a victory, and that happened this Saturday at home against the pale MLS champs, LA FC, 2-0.

The one thing consistent in Toros’ performances is the efficiency. In eight of the recent ten meetings, we’ve seen a moderate one, meaning 2 or 3 goals. Though, after a streak of events in which both teams netted, the past four concluded with only one side delivering.

DC United (+210) won only once over the recent four games, losing the other three. Wayne Rooney and the crew lost the pace with the rest of the playoff rivals during this stretch, and they need to come back to proper shape as soon as possible.

United posted three wins, two ties, and six defeats in eleven contests away from home, scoring 11 times and conceding 16. However, they are riding a very negative stretch coming into this battle, with one triumph in seven meetings.

Right now, the team looks without any chemistry, struggling to find a winning formula. It’s up to Rooney to come up with a solution, otherwise, things aren’t going to be well for the team from the capital.

It’s hard to say which team is in a better position, but we will give a slight edge to the hosts. The only reason we do that is the home-field edge, as Toyota Stadium knows to be a rough place for any visitor. Also, there is a matter of Dallas’ latest victory at home over LA FC. When you defeat the champions, no matter their state, the morale always surges. The odds of Dallas winning are solid, +130, so we are taking this pick.
