MLS: FC Dallas vs. LA Galaxy Preview, Odds, Predictions (March 4)

FC Dallas hosts LA Galaxy at its Toyota Stadium this Saturday night. The Toros open the season with back-to-back games at home, and after losing in the opener, they need to bounce back with a victory now. On the other side, LA Galaxy didn’t play last weekend. They were supposed to meet LAFC in El Trafico, yet the bat weather created problems, and the matchup was suspended. These two conference rivals were placed third and fourth at the end of the previous season and are again among the best units in the West.

FC Dallas (+115) lost to Minnesota United 0-1, which was unexpected for most of the fans and the analysts as well. Minnesota did its thing, defending and waiting for the chance to strike from a counter-attack, deliberately allowing Dallas to take possession.

The Toros tried to break through United’s hard defense, yet they couldn’t. The lack of composure upfront and creativity in the midfield was obvious, and even though some might disagree, they did deserve to lose against the guests from Minneapolis. 

Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola need to be better and also to have decent help from the midfielders. Otherwise, they won’t be as efficient as during the previous year. The two had 28 goals and 13 assists combined in the last campaign. It is interesting to say that Dallas has six straight events with under 2.5 goals, counting in the preseason.

LA Galaxy (+220) was scheduled to open the campaign against their biggest rivals, LAFC, but the weather prevented that. The situation isn’t great for Galaxy, who experiences certain turbulences, with the fans boycotting every game until the club president, Chris Klein, resigns. 

The team couldn’t sign any players during the winter due to a transfer ban imposed by the MLS, and the head coach Greg Vanney has his options narrowed. 

Galaxy played six preseason games, winning only two, posting one tie, and recording three losses. What was noticeable is that five of those events concluding with hits on both ends of the field.

Dallas has no problems with either injured or absent players, and their roster is complete before this event.

Galaxy will have problems upfront because both Chicharito and Douglas Costa are injured. It means that Dejan Joveljic needs to give more than 100%.

Dallas is in a good situation here because they not only had one competitive game, unlike the rivals, but due to the fact that Galaxy won’t have Chicharito at their disposal, which is a major blow for the guests. The Mexican is the biggest star of the team and arguably the best player. Making it even worse, Costa is out too, and we think the hosts simply have to win this event. FC Dallas to win is +115, and that’s more than satisfying.
