NFL Earthquake – Kareem Hunt in Browns, Kyler Murray Commits to Football

February 11, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Two major news broke out today. Kareem Hunt one of the best running backs in the NFL, who is also known for his outfield law problems, decided to join the Cleveland Browns, signing a one-year deal.

Meanwhile, Kyler Murray, the Heisman Trophy winner, decided to choose football over baseball, and fully focus his future on the NFL.

These two events will already make huge noise in the football world, and the social networks went wild.

Joey Dorsey Land Hunt in Cleveland

Hunt was in the middle of a scandal last year when it was found out that he physically assaulted a woman at his residence, in February 2018. Despite the fact that the footage appeared in December, the Kansas City Chief where Hunt played at the time, immediately released the player.

That affected their game in the latter stages of the season enormously, but the Chiefs didn’t want their starting running back on board anymore.

However, the Cleveland Browns’ GM Joey Dorsey who selected Hunt in the 2017 NFL draft, decided to give one more chance to the 23-year old, whose football qualities are fantastic.

Dorsey explained what reassured him to sign Hunt, besides his skills on the court,

“There were two important factors: one is that Kareem took full responsibility for his egregious actions and showed true remorse and secondly, just as importantly, he is undergoing and is committed to necessary professional treatment and a plan that has been clearly laid out.”

Kareem Hunt was the Pro Bowler in his rookie year. He received a PFWA Rookie of the Year award in 2017 and was the rushing leader in the NFL that season. The already recorded 2,151 yards in incomplete two seasons, along with 15 rushing and 10 receiving touchdowns.

With Patrick Mahomes and Tyreke Hill, Hunt formed a deadly trio in Kansas City who harassed the opponents throughout the whole 2018 season, setting new standards in professional football when talking about the offense. Unfortunately, this superb core had to break up because of his violent behavior and interrupt something which might have been one of the best shows in NFL history.

At the moment, Hunt’s status for the upcoming season is still unclear, because the NFL still has to finish the investigation about his incident and makes a verdict about that case.

Kyler Murray Goes to NFL

Almost at the same time, Kyler Murray announced his decision to commit to football instead of baseball.

The Heisman Trophy winner for this season, wrote this on his Twitter account.

“Moving forward, I am firmly and fully committing my life and time to becoming an NFL quarterback….. I very much look forward to dedicating 100% of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships…”

This means that the 21-year old quarterback is going to appear at the upcoming NFL draft and that he quits all plans for playing professional baseball.

He was selected as the 8th overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, by the Oakland Athletics. In four days time, Murray was supposed to join the A’s spring training.

Because of this decision, the former Oklahoma Sooners’ QB will have to return around $1.3 million to the baseball franchise which was his signing bonus. The rest of the deal will just fall through.

Despite his small frame, Murray posted unreal numbers during his last season. He threw 42 touchdowns and 4.361 yards, having a fantastic QBR 95.8. His average of 300 passing and 60 rushing yards per game is a unique achievement in FBS history, and his other stats et several records, which will be there for a long time.

One other fact already made him a special athlete. He will be the only player who got picked in first rounds of the MLB and the NFL drafts.
