PSG.LGD vs Keen Gaming – Dota 2 Professional League Season 2

November 24, 2018 By Shehryar Raza Leave a Comment

The Dota Pro League Season 6 is here and it brings some of the best teams of the Chinese region. The Chinese region is one of the most unpredictable regions of the competitive Dota 2 world. So, it surely keeps analyst on their feet. The Dota Pro League Season 6 host a prize pool of $145,000 USD, the winner will get the lion’s share of the prize and might possibly get a place in the upcoming major. The details of the last part of the former statement have yet to be verified by the organizers.

The reason we have picked this match for you that it is a battle between two teams that are aiming to prevail in the new season of the DPC. One team, PSG.LGD have had a good year which includes a grand final finish to TI while the other team Keen Gaming might be a new name but includes some of the most phenomenal and experienced players. Let’s see who will come out on top.

PSG.LGD

This might be the best year for the PSG.LGD team but it is also the one to forget for the side. They just have a habit of underestimating their opponents which have been the main problem of the team all season long. They tend to disappoint on the biggest occasions and seem like a shadow of the form they show against small teams. This has been the theme of the side all year long. The team management has shown a lot of faith on the roster since they have remained unchanged after the TI. This might be a wise decision from them since no matter how inconsistent, they are still the finalist of the undisputed Dota 2 competition in the world, The International.

The International 2018

After PSG joined hands with the Chinese side, LGD, PSG.LGD hybrid went on a rampage. They won the EPICENTER XL, MDL Changsha Major and finished at 2nd place at the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018. This record was enough to get them tickets for the TI. In the competition, they showed signs of weaknesses from the start. They got beaten once or twice in the group stage. However, in the playoffs, they showed impressive form until OG beat them to the lower bracket of the competition. However, Fy’s aims were high and he led the team for a rematch in the grand finals. The grand finals’ battle was one of the best games in the history of the competition. Unfortunately, PSG.LGD’s ghosts from the past came back to haunt them and they were beaten 3-2 by OG.

PVP eSports

The PVP eSport competition was the best one they had until they meet Secret which comprehensively beat them. The same thing happened in the Kuala Lumpur Major where they beat everyone but when they come up against Secret they were beaten 2-0. Then they were beaten 2-0 by Evil Geniuses.

DPL Season 2

Now in the DPL, they seem to be establishing a similar feat. They have played 6 games so far in the competition, two games each against Aster, iG and Taichi. As expected they have completely dominated their opponents. They won all six and are currently sitting at top of the leaderboard.

These results are expected from a team like PSG.LGD. The players have shown all year long that they are calm and collected against weaker opponents. However, they fail when they need to shine the most.

PSG.LGD has the team, the talent, and the resources to be the best team in the world. However, they just get too complacent and become sloppy in their games. The players really need to mature mentally since some of the team members are still in their teens.

Now, let’s have a look at their upcoming opponents, Keen Gaming.

Keen Gaming

Keen Gaming was founded a year ago. It is a separate brand of EHOME, one of the phenomenal teams in the competitive region of China. However, they seem to have lost their credibility over the years. About seven years ago this EHOME side completely dominated the professional landscape but since their players refused to adapt to the modern game. Hence, the strategy of the Chinese powerhouse got obsolete. The lineup of Keen Gaming includes some of the most experienced and veteran players of the former EHOME lineup. But the problem is that age is a big factor when it comes to pro gaming. The reflexes are halved and you just can’t process the game like you used to.

This is a big factor to why this Keen Gaming side have either failed to qualify for the big competitions or they are just eliminated in the very early stages. Keen Gaming’s lineup is decent on the national level but just can’t make a mark in the professional world.

Fun Fact is that they have been beaten twice by PSG.LGD in as many meetings in the calendar year. Once in the qualifier of China Dota 2 Supermajor 2018 and the other one in Dota 2 Professional League Season 5. Even at the moment in the Dota 2 Professional League Season 6, Keen Gaming team is yet to win a series while PSG.LGD sit at the top of their group. Keen is just a tier 3 team that will be brutally beaten by the aggressive playing PSG.LGD. The new patch might be the kick-starter that the team needs to prevail since they beat Taichi last night 2-0 in two games that each lasted for less than 25 minutes. Therefore, Keen will really be needing a miracle to beat the team that ruthlessly beat small teams without any hesitation.

Final Verdict

PSG.LGD 2 – 0 Keen Gaming
