Serie A: Lazio vs. AC Milan Preview, Odds, Prediction

Lazio and AC Milan square off in the only Serie A game this Tuesday night. Due to Coppa Italia and Super Cup obligations, these two units must meet outside the usual schedule. Lazio played in Coppa Italia, successfully overcoming that challenge. Meanwhile, Milan lost the Super Cup game against the biggest enemy, Inter, who was more than dominant against the champions. That’s one more failure for Rosonerri, who aren’t playing well since the World Cup ended.

Lazio (+190) won back-to-back games, one in Serie A and one in Coppa Italia. The league victory was against Sassuolo on the road, 0-2, and after that, beat Bologna at Olimpico, 1-0. After a while, the defense had good performances, despite not having top-tier attacks opposite them. 

Previously, we’ve seen them in terrible shape. Following the World Cup, Lazio lost in Lecce, 2-1, and played a draw at home to Empoli, despite playing well. Yet the defense was highly problematic for the Eagles, who overall, have a solid backline, allowing 15 goals in 18 games so far. 

Maurizio Sarri’s crew is solid in Rome, having six victories, three draws, and one defeat across all the competitions. In five of those events, they’ve kept clean sheets, but in others, they showed plenty of flaws. 

AC Milan (+145) is a favorite coming into this event. As you can see, Rossoneri are the favorites, but many doubt that assessment. They were completely annihilated in the latest game, which was against Inter in the Super Cup finals, 0-3.

After the World Cup ended, AC Milan restarted the challenges well, beating Salareintana on the road, 1-2, but after that began failing. AS Roma took one point from San Siro, 2-2, with a goal in the last moments. Following that, Milan was eliminated in Coppa Italia against Torino, following extra times, before playing 2-2 in Lecce.

Rossoneri have only one loss on the road in nine outings but have only four victories, along with four draws. Four of five of the latest Serie A games Milan played away from San Siro saw both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

Gila and Immobile are out for this event. The absence of their top striker will be a big blow for Lazio.

Florenzi, Ibrahimovic and Ballo-Toure are all out, but they have been out for a long time. Krunic and Maignan are questionable.

Head to Head 

Lazio and Milan met three times last year, and Rossoneri managed to beat the rivals on all three occasions, allowing only one goal. The first event was at San Siro, 2-0, the second also in Milan, but in Coppa Italia, 4-0, and the latest at the Olimpico, 1-2. 

AC Milan won in five of the previous six events, and six of the latest seven saw over 2.5 scores. 

Prediction

We are aiming for both teams to score, with both units not having impressive back lines. We are aware that Ciro Immobile isn’t available for the host, but Milan’s defense, especially on the road and in recent times, is below average. The odds on both teams netting are at -166.
