Steph Curry Laughs at Golden State’s Doubters

August 13, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

After being silent for quite some time, Steph Curry decided to speak on several matters. Among them are all the rumors about the Warriors not being title contenders, which deeply disturbed the two-time MVP. According to Steph, it is something which makes him laugh.

Losing Kevin Durant primarily, then Boogie Cousins and Andre Iguodala has been a trigger for some fans and the experts to write off the GSW as the potential contenders for winning the NBA title. Now, the majority considers Golden State to be just another franchize in the league, who once had a super-team.

He was more than direct once mentioning that, saying that each person today has a right to speak and that you can expect some words like that.

“You kind of just laugh at it really,” Steph stated. “Anybody can say anything about anything nowadays.”

What is important to Steph that all that doubting won’t change the Warriors’ mindset and ambitions.

“It doesn’t change the goal of our business.”

One of the best shooters in NBA history seemed a bit annoyed with all those talks and guessings. The reason for that is the fact that people doubt in his, Klay’s and other players’ quality. Many believe that their domination was a product of Kevin Durant’s presence at the Oracle Arena. If it weren’t for KD, the Warriors wouldn’t have won the latter two titles.

Even before this, Curry mentioned on several occasions, that people don’t appreciate well enough all of his and the Warriors’ accomplishments in the past.

The Warriors will now have a much younger team, with a new All-Star D’Angelo Russell, and many are forgetting that. It appears that the hype around Durant’s departure completely cast a shadow over D-Lo’s landing. That too bothers Curry, because Russell has an amazing quality according to his belief.

“He’s just amazingly talented and skilled and he’s got creativity in terms of ball-handling, the way he can see the floor, obviously he can shoot the lights out.”

These two guys will run GSW’s offense for most of the 2019/2020 season. Klay Thompson’s injury will set him apart from the court for the majority of the campaign, which will open the space for the newcomer from Brooklyn to have the leading role alongside Cury.

Stephen Curry was asked who initiated his workouts with D’Angelo Russell.

It is what excites the three-time champ, who thinks that the team’s philosophy of play will look completely different.

“He’ll give us a different look in terms of somebody who can have the ball in their hands and create offense, and we’re going to need that playmaking ability.”

Ever since the All-Star break last year, the atmosphere around the Warriors’ future was not positive. The speculations surrounding Durant’s future began popping out from every corner. It created a lot of pressure and tension for KD, who needed to make a decision about his future.

In the end, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets and teamed up with Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

After his choice, Lakers’ and Clippers’ big trades and the rise of other franchisees in the West, Golden State stayed in the shadows a little bit. Nobody is giving them the respect earned in the previous years, and the attention of the public is focused on other teams. Golden State is not the first favorite to win the title after five years, but that could end up with them being motivated more than ever.

At least that is how Steph Curry looks like.
