Team Secret vs Virtus.Pro – Dota 2 Kuala Lumpur Major

The first Major of the competitive season circuit of Dota 2 is underway. We had quite an exciting competition and it is yet to reach its climax. The competition started off with the group stage. Then the event made its way to the playoffs. Now out of a total of 16 competing teams, only six remains. So, we are getting closer to the grand finals. Let’s have a look at one of the most anticipated matches of the competition.

The reason we have picked this match for you is that This might be a start of a rivalry. These teams have faced each other twice and are 1-1 in head to head stat. VP defeated Secret in the second round in Hamburg while in the Grand Finale it was Secret who completely demolished the CIS team. Now they again meet each other and VP will be looking for redemption.

Since this is the first official competition of the DPC, we don’t have much statistics to work with. However, to help you choose your bet we have comprehensively explained the performances of the two teams of the matches they played less than a day ago.

Team Secret

The European side is the clear favorite to lift the title. They have improved by leaps and bounds since their new roster and have made quite an impact in Malaysia. They have beaten everyone without any hesitation. Let’s have a comprehensive look into the last game the side played.

In the last round, Team Secret beat PSG.LGD. The format of the confrontation was the best-of-three. Already at one minute MidOne shredded first blood, killing Chalice solely in the mid lane. The teams fought a lot in the early game, but they still fail to get ahead in gold. At the 28th minute, Team Secret killed fy and took the first Roshan. After that, the European team demolished the first T2 tower and retreated. The second Roshan also went to the Team Secret piggy bank. At 37 minutes, Secret won a major battle and destroyed the first side. Literally in a minute Secret again killed Lycan, and then dropped down two more barracks. Dying five together in the next battle, the Chinese surrender – 1: 0.

In the second game, Ame made the first kill on the bottom lane, but YapzOr immediately killed xNova in response. The Chinese team dominated the early game, leading 3 thousand gold already in 6 minutes. Secret managed to even out the situation on the map, thanks to several unanswered kills. On the 26th minute, Secret won the fight, without losing a single hero and took the gold lead. In the next battle of Nisha got a triple kill, and the team from Europe took Roshan without any problems. When they tried to enter the high ground, Team Secret dropped gave away three kills and lost the Aegis. The Chinese immediately got on the offensive and got the first T3 tower. Having won the next major battle, Secret took the second Roshan. Soon they made their way to the high ground and destroyed the two sides. At 46 minutes, the team from China surrendered and lost the match, 2-0.

This result just shows how much is Secret disciplined at the moment. They made a couple of mistakes but knows very well to recover and get back on their feet. This results just adds to the unbeaten run of Team Secret in the competition. The team has not dropped a single game of the series in their entire campaign.

Virtus.Pro

Virtus.Pro has similar statistics in Malaysia compared to Secret. The CIS side is yet to drop a single game in the competition. They have been quite formidable and dominating compared to Secret since they have ended their games quickly. Let’s have a look at their last game.

Latest Result

The account on the first map of the match opened for the team Virtus.pro, killing the enemy offlaner. Ninjas in Pajamas was the weaker team compared to the CIS opponent at the start of the game. The aggressive strategy was on display by the Russian team. At 23 minutes, NiP tried to take Roshan, but Aegis was stolen by VP. After that, the NiP side lost the fight.

Virtus.pro conducted a successful raid and demolished the top lane of the opponent. Ninjas in Pajamas was trailing VP by 8K gold. VP then went on the offensive, but NiP won the battle and even out the financial situation on the map. Virtus.Pro pushed for the advantage again, won the fight and completely destroyed the remaining lanes of the enemy base. Ninjas in Pajamas played against mega-creeps but didn’t give up and continue to desperately resist. VP squeezed its advantage and won on the first map.

The first blood in the second confrontation map shed by the Ninjas in Pajamas team. The European team led in the score, but couldn’t get ahead in terms of gold. Virtus.pro won a team fight and NiP lost the first lan of towers. 22 minutes into the game and VP outplayed the opponent and killed the first Roshan, and then won the fight. Successful decisions of   9pasha allowed Virtus.pro to win in battle after battle. Ninjas in Pajamas lost the mid lane barrack, then, were completely demolished by Virtus.Pro. Soon after the fight, they decided to surrender. The result of the match was 2-0.

Looking at this performance, VP constantly pushed to finish the game early. Even when they didn’t have the advantage, they continued to take team fights until they established a solid lead.

Final Verdict

Virtus.Pro is clearly aggressive. However, Secret know how to counter them they have successfully done so in the past and will be aware of the strategy of the CIS team.
