Tyson Fury After Beating Schwarz: “I Came Here to Put a Show”

June 16, 2019 By Nikola Velickovic Leave a Comment

Tyson Fury showcased why he is still considered the best heavyweight boxer in the world according to many fans and pundits. The “Gypsy King” has defeated Tom Schwarz from Germany with a TKO in the second round, and kept his lineal heavyweight title.

Fury (28-0-1, 20 KOs) dominated the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, displaying all of his qualities in the best possible way. The movement, the speed, and above all the ferociousness in the moments when needed the most.

“I came here to put on a show for Las Vegas, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did,” said Fury after the fight.

There was one person who didn’t enjoy the event – Schwarz. The undefeated fighter up until last night (24-1), was quickly disarmed and was beaten severely. He couldn’t even properly hit his opponent, who showed his dominance in the second round. Schwarz had an open situation but managed to miss Fury’s head four times in just a couple of seconds. Each time, the 30-year old from Manchester avoided the fists of the German with a fabulous upper body movement.

In the meantime, Fury’s southpaw stance was giving a lot of troubles to the challenger. He couldn’t get used to it, and in no time, ended up with a bloody nose. Previously, one uppercut clearly shook his foundations and slowed down his movement.

After that, Fury struck Schwarz with a sharp left and forced the 24-year old to kneel down. Once the German stood up, a barrage of punches began, and the referee in the ring Kenny Bayless stopped the fight immediately because Schwarz couldn’t do anything to defend himself.

“The key was to enjoy myself,” Fury said.

Judging by the way the Brit danced around the ring and how he taunted the opponent, often teasing him by lowering hands, Fury did have a good time in Las Vegas. And was effective too.

In the end, Fury had 45 punches in 158 tries, while Schwarz had 6 in just 30 attempts. That pretty much can tell you all about the situation in the ring.

“I used the jab,” Fury explained how he managed to find a crack in rival’s stance. “I was slipping with my hands down and sliding shifted to southpaw and caught him with a straight left. It was a good shot it would have put anybody away.”

This was his fourth match after coming back from a pause during which he battled depression and drug addiction. He defeated Sefer Seferi, Francesco Pianeta, along with Schwarz, and had a draw against Deontay Wilder.

After the match, Fury didn’t reveal his plans for the future but said that he would have one more fight until the end of the year, which will probably take place on 21st of September or 5th of October. When all that ends, the hunt for Deontay Wilder is on the menu.

“Next year we’re going to hunt down Deontay Wilder and make him give me that green belt!”

Fury and Wilder both want to have another spectacle, to settle things and see who is the better fighter. Both of them weren’t happy with the way the previous battle ended, and are keen on having a rematch.

Right now, that would be the biggest fight in the boxing world, especially after Anthony Joshua’s loss against John Ruiz Jr. Both Wilder and Fury called out AJ on numerous occasions, but the former champion didn’t respond to their challenges.

It appears that the rumors about him not being able to fight stronger opponents outside the United Kingdom were true. Currently, there is a lot of doubt about his quality, and the fans’ focus is now completely shifted from him to the two above-mentioned boxers.

The name of Fury’s next rival is not revealed yet, while Wilder’s opponent will be Luis Ortiz.
