UEFA Champions League: Manchester United vs. Atletico Madrid Preview, Odds, Prediction

Manchester United hosts Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, with both sides having an active result after the first leg. We’ve seen one solid event in Madrid a couple of weeks ago, and may we add that Atletico looked better, but that Elanga’s equalizer wasn’t unfair in the end. The Reds Devils aren’t in good shape, they show a lot of oscillations, yet on the other hand, the same is with Atletico, who only recently posted a decent stretch of results.

Manchester United (+115) took down Tottenham on Saturday afternoon, and it was solely because of Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over the Spurs. Even though he is close to the fifth decade of his life, Ronaldo is still one of the best players in the world, but apparently, much younger teammates aren’t anywhere near his level.

This was the fourth event in the previous five for United in which they allowed at least one goal, and that has been their trademark throughout the entire season. Even Rangnick’s arrival didn’t change that.

United is without a loss at home in the past four events, having two wins and draws. The efficiency of the games at Trafford is a bit lower than on the road, with seven of the most recent ten ending with under 2.5 hits.

Atletico Madrid (+260) won the previous three games, four in the past five with one sole draw during that period. In all of these victories, they would score two or more hits, with the note that young Joao Felix started pounding pretty hard netting five times in the same number of events.

Atletico’s matches on the road are interesting, and they usually end with over 2.5 goals, which was the case in four of the previous five away games. They also netted twice or more, all but one event during that span.

Unlike before, this Atletico isn’t relying upon tough defense, but is a more open and offensive-minded unit. It is something new in Simeone’s philosophy of play, as we all know that the Argentinian is a mastermind for defense.

Prediction

This match is also promising goals on both ends. United’s defense is terrible, and there is no debate about it. Maguire is a mediocre player, and whoever didn’t realize that up until this point knows nothing about football. Luckily for the Red Devils, they have a dangerous attack with Ronaldo, who is on fire now, and a few other guys able to break Atletico’s average defense. The same goes for the guests and their respective offense and defense. That is why we bet on both teams to score, with the odds on that -110.
